I'm having issues with my Visual C++ Runtime just like others seem to have. When I first tried to load the game it said there was not enough memory (TRUST ME, there is PLENTY enough memory, on video card AND motherboard). It then gave a fatal error crash and said it was closing the game. But before I could react, my entire computer crashed with a blue screen.

Haven't seen THAT in ages!

When I got back in, I was getting the Runtime errors. FOUR HOURS LATER, I got it all to work. This MAY help the developers figure out what is wrong, but it will probably help the players more.

Apparently I have several versions of the Visual C++ Runtime on my computer. I guess when it updates, it doesn't like to let the last one go. When trying to remove them, I got errors about a directory on my computer not containing the vc_runtimeAdditional_x64.msi needed to uninstall old versions. When trying to install the latest version, I got similar errors. But you will want to download the latest versions, so go ahead and get them from Microsoft.

I searched the web up and down to find answers. Several Microsoft sites suggested using an installer/uninstaller repair tool. That didn't work (but get it anyway).

What I actually had to do was go into the registry (DANGEROUS TERRITORY) and DELETE the Runtime folders. The instructions I found suggested deleting all of the ones with the coded directory name that came up (so like in C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{6E39BE88-1272-4732-A962-9B34A31EE12C}v64.56.29490 you would only look for data on the registry files that starts with "6E39BE88"). If you have NEVER touched your registry before, and keep default values for installing things, the files would probably be in: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Dependencies\

ANYWAY, I went extreme with it, and deleted EVERY folder with the name starting Microsoft.VS.VC AND everything that started VC,redist. I took them all out. No harm done there, just a clean slate.

After you do that, restart your computer. THEN open that installer/uninstaller repair program and run it on "install" and select the "Microsoft Visual C++" apps. You'll want to run this repair tool twice - once for the x86, and once for the x64.

After that, you should *finally* be able to go to your downloaded Visual Runtime files that I named above (vc_runtimeAdditional_x64.msi). Go ahead and download/install the x84 version too, because some games may require that on some systems, and it won't hurt you to have both. As long as it says "setup complete" at the end of each one, then it finally installed correctly.

At this point you should log into Steam and verify your game files for Abiotic Factor. If you got a blue screen crash like I did, it probably screwed up the game files too. But do the verification even if you didn't get a bad crash, just to be sure.

AT THIS POINT, your game should finally load properly. Dust yourself off and get to playing!

That upgrade doesn't impact weapons at all. It's talking about the Refine that consumes a relic you don't want, and gives a permanent increase in HP or attack. An upgrade gives a chance for that to be a Critical Refine, doubling the increase, and the upgrade you are talking about increases the chance for a Critical Refine. With the full tree upgraded, it guarantees a Critical refine every time.

The White lady does completely reroll the weapon. It also rerolls the stats, and can sometimes upgrade the quality, but as far as I've seen, it never downgrades it. The main use is to try for a different legendary/mythic weapon that has synergy with whatever relics you're using in that run. If you don't have the specific weapon ideal for your build, there's usually not much reason to not use her free reroll, though whether you want to pay for more is up to you.

If the game description had been accurate, then I would not have gotten the game OR I would have waited it out and maaaybe get it when on discount together with roughly 50 other games on my steam wishlist.

Yep and as I saw someone say elsewhere, the IP is doing some heavy lifting as well. If this game was a new IP with this design, I doubt we would even have heard of it.

As a long, long time Dune fan and having played just about every dune game, I almost had to get it.

DX12 causes stutters for me as well, using a 5080

Your comment about them being better is irrelevant. They may be better games, but there a different genre of game. Also crying woke while having nothing to back it up other than a previous title is lame af. You sound like terminally online clown that hasnt see the light of day for years. Go touch some grass buddy, its embarrassing. If you must know I was very much your point of view in regards 2042. The first battlefield I never bought into. But im not hysterical enough to start crying like a little child the moment they release a title because Im still butt hurt about there previous release.
