"murder" and "killing" are not, and under no circumstances should ever be used interchangeably.

That's because you define that word by law whereas I define it by morality.

They are two separate words to invoke an underlying morality, the distinction originated by defining them by morality.

In fact, by my observation, it appears the opposite is the case. You hold there is no moral justification for loss of life, which may be a privileged position. It is also more likely to be rooted in having law be more important than morality.

Morality originates in empathy. Being privileged such as to not be able to empathize with the oppressed, invokes a concept of being deaf to morality and only heeding the law.

It's giving you *back* a unit that already died. Normally, units die when they are killed and then you have to draft or summon a whole new unit which takes draft or casting points *in addition* to their gold or mana cost. In the case of drafting, you then have to move it from your city to wherever the action is, and in the case of summoning, you can't do it inside a spell jammer. (I think you can still reanimate in a spell jammer?)

Reincarnation, like necromancy, mind control and overseer enslavement, bypasses that, which is why it's more expensive than simply summoning the same animal. (A soul seems to be worth about 3 mana judging from the cost swap of banshee and corrupt soul.) And that's if you even have the right tomes -- reincarnation, as a hero ability, doesn't depend on your tome path.

P.S. Although it is weird compared to regular resurrections, which don't have any after battle cost at all, AFAIK. Since reincarnation has a cost and uses the post-battle recruit interface, does it trigger the Dominator ambition?

if you fight a neutral bone wyvern and then use raise dead on it's corpse, are you not gaining an *additional* unit post combat that you pay for? or do you even pay for it in that instance? compared to reincarnation where you are replacing a unit? i still feel like it's not an entirely equivalent comparison. raise undead can be used on any corpse to revive an undead unit or make a zombie giving it more versaility...

and another scenario:
my T2 support dies in combat. i reincarnate it as a T2 warg. i complete the combat. i need to pay 150 mana to keep the warg.

my T2 support dies in combat. i use battlesaint's revive to revive it as is. i complete the combat. i pay nothing.

once again, i feel like 150 mana for a *replacement* is too high lol.

you can and there is no penalty for it. How the game applies penalties is after you leave, you return to the main menu, when you press start it will ask you if you want to connect to previous session you disconnected from. If you say no, it "applies penalty" if you click yes then it does not. If you are the only one who is in the session, when you leave the session gets deleted and it tells you you could not connect. No penalty :3
