P-61C-1 and P-38s are the best for ARB as they get air spawn. F3D-1 and F-84B-26 with air spawn can see some jet bombers and late piston bombers in downtiers, but I'd prefer lower tiers.

P-61C-1 is also nice in ASB as you have not only radar (although weak), but a turret for 3rd person view as well. Helps finding targets faster, and you can use the turret to shoot them down by flying below them. Can also use A-26B-10 at that lvl, decent climb rate when in top and speed, plus turrets again.

For air arcade - everything that climbs well or at least has great performance at height when you reach it and high speed. Kingcobras, Mustangs below P-51H-5-NA, Thunderbolts (P-47D-28 is the king, P-47M-1-RE is also good), XP-50, XP-55, F8F-1, Spitfire LF Mk.IXc are the best; F-84B-26 and F3D-1 work in downtiers too.
