I mean, did you think that the missions only lead to "nice to have but not necessary" upgrades for the facility (and even that would be wrong, because some are almost downright mandatory)? How far behind are you? Have you done ANY of the core suppressions?

Technically, the game has 4 endings+the epilogue, 3 of them come from not having the core suppressions on each floor completed and reaching the day that they roadblock (alternatively, losing all agents on those days), though the first "ending" can barely even be called one, since it's basically just telling you to turn back and prepare better for what's ahead (i.e. take the hint and go back and do the suppressions).

If you don't want the run to be in the trash, there's a mod you can use to keep your agents when you go back to day 1. In case you haven't figured it out yet, using the Memory Repository as well as the day 1 reset both save any Abnormality info and EGO gear you acquired, though without the mod, the day 1 reset will lose you all your agents (Memory Repo just loses the ones you didn't have yet at the last Memory checkpoint, which is every day ending in 1 or 6). Heading into the final 5 days without all Suppressions done is basically forcing yourself into a day 1 reset scenario, as the start of that Hell is a Memory checkpoint.

Agreed. The demo shows a very promising starting point. I'm looking forward to the full-game release down the road.
