This post is written from the prespective of playing on Starfarer.

I feel like there is a big power difference between +1 weapon slots and +1 deployable slots you get after each gate. 3 deployable slots is strong, 3 weapon slots are honestly barely felt.

Currently there are 3 best weapons in the game: AR44, Model12 and the Railgun. (in my opinion)

The rest of the weapons are either melee/pistols (by their nature "secondary) or are too weak. On starfarer,the enemies have time to become quite tanky,and sometimes the battlehazards can stack up to such a degree where you cant rely mostly on deployables,and you need to deal damage yourself. The AR44 is currently probably the best weapon in the game,it has great damage and great secondary fire mode,if you upgrade it you dont really need to waste a gate to gain a secondary,and not only that, since the AR44 (and all weapons mentioned above) take ALL of your slots,one gate will give you a slot for a melee,which is risky to use and again if you have the AR you dont really need it.

For me, the other weapons that could be considered primaries (Peacekeeper,specops DMR,bold rifle, smg,flame shot) are either to weak to deal with endgame conditions (SMG) or are somewhat unreliable (Flameshot). These weapons COULD benefit from a secondary,like a pistol,but again are all overshadowed by the AR and co.

I have to make it clear,i am NOT calling for nerf of the weapons i mentioned at the beginning,instead there should either be another way for player to gain slots to encourage secondary weapons,but i would rather buff the underpeformers. I will try to explain.

Melees: I like the idea of melee in SENTRY,but as it is right now its just way to risky even with armor,enemies can shred you really quickly.

Peacekeeper: Aside from being awkward to fire,it simply lacks damage,and the flashbang grenades,even with poison dont help much,especially if enemies are of Blue tier and are beefed up by battle hazards. I would honestly consider swapping the final upgrade for a full auto mode rather than poison grenades.

MP-45: It gets good only after you nearly master it,really. Too much spread,too little damage,it only works great as a secondary as of right now.

Spec Ops DMR: While it has great damage,in the chaos of SENTRY you dont always have the time to aim for heads one enemy at a time,sometimes you really need to spray into the crowd,which is a role better fulfilled by the AR44 (it really is just a better version of the DMR)

EM.BR-01 Bolt Rifle: I would probably call this the 4th best weapon in the game,but in my opinion piercing beats the small blast range of the bolt rifle in most situations,not to mention the very long accuracy recovery between shots,sometimes its just way too slow.

The pistols: I am putting all the pistols into a single category because frankly they fullfill their role perfectly,literaly any of the pistol is a good secondary to have,the problem is the lack of slots/motivation to have em. Otherwise they are fine
