There is a main story cut in quests you progress one at a time and there are side quests/stuffs without much HUD indications you can do on your own if you find them and pursue them.
I guess on this aspect it can be kind of similar to BioShock 1 if you want an example you know (and I'm not sure BioShock 1 has no quest that lock as you progress ? I don't remember exactly)

But it's a survival sandbox not just a narrative game, you are free to explore and have fun everywhere you have access, have basebuilding (nothing huge but a base where to put your stuffs at least) and lot of craft possible as you progress. Like Subnautica or Grounded per example

That said, DOW2's gameplay loop is too different to call it RTS. I call it RTS-adjacent.

Real Time tactics games are under the umbrella of strategy but are also not RTS games. Examples of this are Dawn of war 2, Men of war and Full spectrum warrior. They are not turn based however the real thing that puts them in this genre are the smaller squad focused gameplay With great importance being placed on individual units rather than a large conflict. It does not need basebuilding to be an RTS but it does need to be larger in scale. The definition is something that alot of people argue over but Really it comes down to Does the game focus on Strategy or does it focus on Tactics?.

The RTS genre was defined simply as an opposite of turn based strategy. Doesn't matter the scale, the scope, the basebuilding or whatever other mechanics or gimmicks.

What I find confusing is that you yourself used the term "strategy" as a descriptor of the "tactics" subgenre. How come they aren't strategy games, then?

I get it you are here exclusively to fight people. It is not about if it is strategy or not its about what the emphasis is on. I did not create the two categories of sub genres but they are Separated into two genres because they are distinct enough that some players like one and not the other.

I just had a red trinket with 30 something % life increase, and a blue one dropped, it auto picked up it, and it only hat 17% so the game picks it up and I lose like 2.5k health.

Why is this a mechanic? I can't stop my guy from picking it up.....why would dude pick up a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ item and hold onto it? lol

This is a bug, which was supposed to be fixed already. Really sorry, we'll fix it ASAP.

I can't tell them apart at this point (I have so many), but here's the List I currently use.

1. Forgotten Frontiers I & II [These are both $5 Creations, so about $10]
   
2. POI Variations - No More Duplicates, Desolation - POI Overhaul, and Batten's Shipwrecks (POIs) [all free Mods on Nexus], these Mods make locations actually unique. You'll spend real-life days playing before finding the same exact locations, but...
   
3. Bedlam - Dungeon Randomizer [free Mod on Nexus], fixes the now rare, but repeating P.O.I. issue by making the location of Enemies random. With this, you'll go into some rooms where the Enemies are actually sleeping, using the Computers or trying to break-open doors. Once, the Dungeon Boss was outside bragging to his buddies, and I was able to stun and arrest him in less than a minute [this is one of the best, must have Mods].
   
4. Permanent P.O.I.s - Rogue Science, Darkness Beckons, and Evil Beyond. These three Mods add "static locations" that can be chosen as a Radiant Mission setting [Free Mods].
   
5. Places Of Intrigue- GRiNDTerra POI, Encounters- a GRiNDTerra PPG Stand-Alone Expansion. These two are great together and add even smaller but interesting P.O.I.s to explore, while also exploring. The coolest things I've seen so far is an Ecliptic Vehicle Barricade defending an Ecliptic base I had to raid [Free Mods].
   
6. POI - Abandoned UC Radar Station [Free].
   
7. Sylv's POI Field Research Outpost [Free].
   
8. Dark Universe - Takeover and Crossfire. These both add "scenarios" to P.O.I.s, so if you have any Modded Ships or Modded Ship Habs installed, there's a change you'll have to board the Enemy and explore it like a dungeon, does the same for Planet-side P.O.I.s [all Free].
   
9. DOU - Focus, this is just a patch to keep the P.O.I.s from getting out-of-control, there's so many Missions you can do that it starts to becoming overkill. It's funny to say, but it can get to a point where there's too much going on, heh!

This is the list of stuff I can recall~ I have so many I've lost track at this point.
