Sounds great. Hopefully the US is fairly auditing small start ups made from a single father right down to the penny and not actively fishing for easy targets to attack for 10k USD and up!

I like using neo volkite with vanguard as he had no other way to pass through shielded ennemis.
Always good to have something to make tyrranid warriors reacting or damaging a grounded biovores or doing some non headshot damage to extremis when you can't face them.
It is also pretty good at dealing with small targets like grass, spore mine and cultist.

It's a solid choice for a vanguard while both assault and bullwark have access to plama pistol which do everything better, the vanguard obviously don't.
Of course heavy bolt pistol is also a strong choice with its 20% on damage after a hability use.

While I generally agree that more customization is good, including the alarm system/notifications, I see a flaw in the example of "adding a few more smelters and suddenly trucks are busy with coal/ores".

That's because you are not supposed to run more smelters with trucks. Period. Either conveyor them and/or train-connect them. I do understand it's unavoidable early game, but the moment you have the luxury to think about expanding smelters (and not just covering the basic need), your best take is automating as much of the existing smelters as possible before adding more.
The throughput of smelters is gigantic, especially when they fill large storages and the output is spread out from there as well.

Take steel as an example: A load of coal, ore, and a bit of limestone, coming out a load of slag and compressed numbers in steel, being delivered to construction parts (which is constantly running if you are early/midgame), to maintenance (which is always running no matter what) and all the small stuff like household goods but also science (which should be running most of the time unless you really cannot afford it)
Avoid trucking that *at all cost*. The only ore jobs in the truck overview you should see midgame is mining trucks going from excavator to ore sorter. Slag is going easier on you once you start recycling at least and you need landfill, but ultimately it should be conveyored into a export dock, never seeing the backside of a truck ever.

In Factorio, you build conveyor bases to eventually get drones. In CoI, you "drone" everything until you can finally belt it.

I always give my spellweaver the piercing bow (available from the start at the store). She can reliably use it to kill three living Spirits at a time (once) with fire orbs.

That´s one item in a whole scenario mate.

As I said. It works ONCE. That's usually enough.

Also as I said, I just buy it and she carries it from the start of the game. There are enough times when it is useful that I don't worry about "does this scenario have shielded enemies?" It's not like I have enough gold to buy multiple loadouts.

I usually never switch it out on her until she gets 9th level, at which point the melee stun hammer is just too powerful to pass up because inferno counts as a melee attack.
