So look, this game is from an era where reading the manual is mandatory to learn to play this game. Without a doubt this may be a great game, but it seriously is held back by a lack of standardization from the DOS era, so this game desperately needs modern controls, and if not a dedicated tutorial room, a mini manual on the main menu that tells the player the controls (while easily re-binding them)

Compatibility-wise, this game running in DOSBox is becoming more questionable with how MS and Apple are handling their OSes, so the primary method is going to be marooned on Linux (yay for those of us on Club Penguin here), but not everyone is going to want to use Linux, either because they are too scared to switch away from Windows, or MacOS does stupid ♥♥♥♥ to make it hard to jump ship.

Graphically, the game is extremely dated by the DOS restrictions, but at the same time, it needs to retain the pixel art medium in some method, so I have 2 compromises for how this can be done:
- 16-bit, something on-par with the SNES or Genesis
- Octopath Traveler, the hybrid of high fidelity filters and pixel art environments is such a beautiful mix, that this could work out amazingly

Audio-wise, the OG is trash, but that could be because I don't know how to config DOSBox to emulate a sound card or midi synth. Regardless, it wouldn't hurt to make new music to give the game a breath of fresh air.

Overall, a great opportunity to make the game more accessible to newcomers (like myself), or enhance the experience for everyone else. Feel free to discuss any ideas for how you think CK could be improved, maybe we can inspire an indie team to do the job right without worrying about Bethesda screwing it up themselves...

Not always, the class system is most similar to bad company 2 and previous.

Dont know if this is intentional, but the Grantendo swap never phases out once the Swap 2 comes out, I am at 2035 in my game and it is still here. I know thats post the end of the run but figured I would mention it.

Does the new game support modding?

Developer here, thanks for posting this! The GPU utilization is something I'm working on fixing, which has been getting better despite the fact Unreal Engine loves eating up GPU. As for getting 22 frames, that's strange given your GPU seems to be better than the one I'm using for development which is a 3060. I've been getting an average of 60 FPS on medium and more on lower settings.

I think the issue might be that you're playing on a setting like High or Cosmic (without knowing), which are insanely over the top (I'm thinking of removing them entirely). Try on Medium or lower and let me know if anything changes!

Shortish answer is you can 'game' the AI a couple different ways to mitigate or distract them.

You can 'bastion' your labs by surrounding them with other buildings stationed with highly spottable units. This will put church units on worlds right next to your buildings. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how hostile the surroundings are. If you plan ahead they can be a further protective barrier though.

You can also distract them by dropping the techs after giving the AI players those techs so they go after their labs instead of yours - or wait until after they start burning their labs down for their own development. They usually have issues trying to regroup and redeploy to go after you if you are late and last on the inquisition list.

Holding off researching until you have enough labs to 'bum rush' through the proscribed ones to get to a cure and then dropping the problem pre-requisites should also work but will probably result in Church unit stacks where you don't really want them.

60 turns in, I've tried paying them 50k for unproscribing one tech and no dice. I've been buffing relations with them all game with yearly donations for future favor.

Wow, didn't know you could drop techs. How do you do it? That's a nifty strategy for going for the cure, thank you!
