Hey guys, what do you recommend for a helicopter newbie? I'm inclined towards either the Apache or the Hind, but im more inclined toward the Hind. And i never flown any helicopters.

Also i do not have pedals, i fly either the F-18 or the F-16 with a hotas, but my joystick has that twist axis that you can use instead of the pedals. Are they absolutely necessary to fly a helicopter?

As someone who has spent learning how to play DCS World using a controller thanks to Tuuvas's guides helping me learn the Hind and Apache they are both fun in their own way; each airframe is difficult to learn. The Apache is one of the most advanced helicopter in the game. It systems are very complicated in how you use the computer although because everything is computerized most of the complicated stuff in the Hind is easy to manage to the Apache, but that doesn't mean the Apache is easier to fly. I first got into the Apache while playing on controller using buttons as a throttle was challenging although rudder control was easy thanks to using that for triggers. Now that I have a full WinWing setup I would say the Hind is more challenging to fly in terms of torque although if you love analog dials the the Hind is a beast to fly and manage. Hovering in the Hind is a chore since the torque imbalance although it's more of a dive in, attack, and dive out type of helicopter. Think of it like a flying APC. It loves to attack things similar to that of a dinosaur rather than be a some type of insect shooting acid at you while hovering. It is old school and great if you are into cold war era airframes.

Honestly, trial them both. If you go to the official DCS World website you can trial them up to two weeks for free and decide which one you want to fly. If you still cannot make up your mind then you gave six months until your next trial for those airframes restarts. Standalone DCS allows you to trial them unlike Steam. Both airframes are fun in their own way and they both fly differently. Choose the one you feel most comfortable in depending on your skill, flying style, and overall interest/comfort!

This maps are so small. Like a CoD. Stupid gamedesign to bring back the hype of battlefield tho.

If you've followed your heart in deep reflection and respect for the equal love of reality, then good for you. But the moment you allow to be peddled by the prescribed tenets of the many, then you are lost.

Before I can spawn into the match the game keeps freezing and crashing. Anyone else having the same issue??

DLC would be added to the actual game..
this is a copy paste in a new engine adding like 4 weapon and a massive amount of scorpions.. like 10-20 times more scorpions than ants to make people think its new

1) 25% folds dont kill players
2) If u leave match, u dont lose 50 points
3) If u won and guy left, u dont get reward
