I get this regularly. It's frustrating that it's been a bug since release, but there's no word n a fix. I like this game, but this is definitely one of the less-communicative EA dev teams I've seen.

• It's not a performance issue, and task manager confirms this. (I tried the 'performance mode' fix suggestion anyway, but it did nothing). And this is a sprite game running at 300% resolution, if it was actually a performance issue, I'd have serious worries about the code.
  
• It's not a lag issue. The game is running at roughly half-speed, regardless of how much or little is on the map.
  
• It's not at all consistent about when it happens. Sometimes it'll be slow when the game starts, sometimes I'll have several days of regular speed and then wake up to a new day in slow-mo.
  
• There's no consistent fix. Aside from "consistently" having it finally go away if I fiddle with random settings for a few minutes. Sometimes restarting the game fixes it, sometimes not. Sometimes it's vsync. The most common fix I've found is switching from borderless to fullscreen. Yes, even though I'm starting in fullscreen, I have to switch it to borderless and then back.

It's just a constant problem that they've known about forever now. At least a mention of "this is tricky, but we're still working on it" would be appreciated? See note about least-communicative-EA-dev-team above... (seriously, no forum interaction, no discord, just a few social media accounts with the same mirrored posts? c'mon).

Guess I'll throw my observations at their bug-report form and hope someone reads it.

If you're overheating download a heat monitor i use HWmonitor and then I check to see if I got over 95c which is usually where you start getting the danger zones and throttling

If it shuts down then you're gonna wanna go in and

Turn the FPS down to 30
make sure your fans are able to go fast zoom zoom and turn them up if necessary when you play

then lower resolution, turn off all the fancy things or low

low resolution and low fps and low settings is about as good as you can do software wise

I'd just be happy with private matches.
