Architects are really cool and by the time they are utterly broken... ummmm... the game should be over.

Like, I dunno... I kinda wonder how Architects do in MP with good players, but my immediate instinct is that they just kinda die too fast. I dunno that Cultivators are enough for them to do anything vs a rush.

Well even with 1 monument maxed they're good. You're getting what +4 in all their incarnate mechanics + their beginning culture spell adding +5 to Resist/Defence in 1 hex radius.

They also have anti rush features, especially Order builds in my opinion that can scale up fast with sustain and damage regardless of Culture. For example though with architects:

- Take Tome of Faith first (or Zeal reversing the following steps).

- Start building more T1 Cultivator support and Earth Breakers (or just Cultivators if you go Zeal first and summon in Zealots) Turn 1 and apply link to Earthbreakers giving them early +2 Incarnate for extra health/damage.

- Research Staves of Mending to give Cultivators extra heal first. Then research Summon Lesser Light Spirits for extra support once mana income is good and Conjure elemental from Architect spells for in extra combat summon that also heals (again because order it's a Lesser Light Spirit which heals/Condemns).

- Own local nodes/infestations early.

- Move on to Tome of Zealotry for Legions of Zeal gaining Zeal base damage scaling + Condemn from Lesser Light Spirits for early +4 Spirit Damage, on top of early +2 Damage from Cultivator for +4 to 6 Spirit damage.

- Super charge buffing production of monuments etc. with Fanatical Workforce researching that. Pick up Summon Zealots so now you can summon Lesser Light Spirit support and Zealots to front lines that both Condemn for extra zeal damage in armies.

- Move on to Tome of Beacon for Mighty Meek for another +1 to +5 spirit damage scaling. Linked Earthbreakers with only a Foundation are doing like +6 to +12 Spirit Damage (upper vs. Condemned Hero units by this point in game).

- Pick up Tome of Fey Mists for Clinging Mists defensive layer + Fey Guile radom stat bloat + Fey Blessing free AP heal on top of Mending Touch.

- Tome of Santuary for Keepers Mark.


Regardless, the biggest weakness for Architects in general IS having their cultural bonuses linked completely to Monuments and a tier 1 support unit. Take out/pillage monuments, gimp the architect. Even though some Architech builds may be ready for that like above, it would still be good in MP to distabilize architects early with rushes before they get going. At least try ro disrupt their production costs and delay monuments and City progression in general.



But anyways more on topic any culture that focuses on sustain especially with 3 good defensive layer mechanics on top of basic stat bloat (Clinging Mists + Grace + now Precognition too), makes Spell Nuking quite cost ineffective without first removing stat bloat and possibly enchantments as well. Your spending hundreds of mana while the enemy just turns 100 damage nukes into wet noodle 10-20ish dmg that Grace absorbs anyways per turn, twice. Then heals up any other damage with basic unit/hero/leader abilities stacking positive effects.

Nuking/spell focused builds are good though vs. glass canon armies especially AI glass cannon armies.

I wouldn't be waiting for Spell Cascade to solve my problems vs. a sustain (or any) army and instead again, try to mess with their buffs/heals and take them away. Decay, Disruption, positive effect stripping/stealing.
