The Biggest Issues I Found With BF6
Právě teď

The gameplay was overall great was able to put on almost 15 hours, but the only 7 issues I had with the game were hit registry, bullet travel time, fps based on the launcher you use/in game graphics, Visibility (fog/volumetric fog), brightness/SSR/glare/sun glare, sight reticle clarity/size, and gun models not showing/gun model picture messed up.

1. Hit Registry

I had many instances where direct shots that were an obvious hit failed to register, and I'm not talking about possible hits. I'm talking about close ranged single shots on a still target that didn't register, but were blatant hits that should've done damage. I know that the game is in beta and I'm figuring that Dice will fix this issue, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

2. Velocity/Bullet Travel Time

I don't know if this was clear to other players, but bullet time after a shot until impact felt slower than it should. I've played more fps games over many years, more titles than I can count, and have gone shooting many times in my lifetime growing up around guns. The bullet travel time/velocity after shooting a gun in the game just felt a bit too slow especially compared to other shooter titles, including realistic shooters like squad, arma, and so on... It's not too big of an issue, and I did like the feeling of the bullet travel, but it just felt too slow. I hope I wasn't the only one that noticed this. It's just too slow, and I hope that DICE adjusts this when the final game product releases.

3. In Game Performance, and launcher performance differences (The Biggest Problem)

I noticed the game does run a little stuttery while playing the play test. I experimented with many different settings, and the only thing I noticed that seemed to mostly fix stutters was NVIDIA frame gen. I looked through many optimization tutorials and nothing fixed it, even when I switched to playing on low settings. One optimization video that I watched explained that running the game on EA launcher instead of Steam provided a good fps boost (like 100+ frames), and I have no understanding on why a launcher should be making this much of a difference to fps. Is it the solution to the problem I'm having? I have no idea, but still should really be looked into. I wouldn't care if the fps was like a 10 fps difference, but a launcher shouldn't be making this much of an impact. The only solution that mostly seemed to help the stuttering was NVIDIA frame generation like I said. It was a decent solution, but I'm very competitive with fps titles, and anything that would help with reducing latency instead of increasing it just to make the game feel smooth is important to many competitive players. I would like to see this get fixed even though its not terrible, but I shouldn't be running into this issue with the current PC that I have. The main specs I'm currently running are an I7-13700k, RTX 4080 Super, and 32G 6000MHz DDR5 G.Skill Trident Z Ram (On 1080p). I know my specs are overkill for many games, but I built this PC to be able to stream demanding games, just like this, smoothly on one PC without having to put a large amount of money into another PC for a dual PC stream setup. Just to mention I'm running into this issue on all the latest BIOS, motherboard, and graphics card drivers while off stream. I even did a GPU driver reinstall just to be sure, but saw no difference. If you ran into this too, feel free to talk about it and mention your thoughts.

Heres the link to the video I mentioned, and the issue is mentioned around 1:58 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIBbJfT2ZJw&t=705s

4. In Game Visibility

The game has an issue with a good amount of visibility problems. I had many occurrences where an enemy was able to see me and other teammates through smokes/rendered fog/volumetrics. Why? I have no idea. This issue could stem from fog rendering for other players, maybe based on their hardware, or game rendering code. Players could be seeing different smoke/fog renders compared to what other players see. I messed with the fog/volumetric graphics settings in the game to try and see if there were different results, but saw no difference. I kept on running into the same issue (Note that I did not configuring ini files, if there is any configurable files, and that this was all just in the base game). Additionally, even though it does look good, there's too much volumetric fog, but I do believe that this issue is stemming from player smoke/fog rendering. If you ran into the same issue, as said before, feel free to share your thoughts.

Here's a few clips that I caught on stream that show a little about what I'm talking about, but note that some of these aren't the best examples: https://youtu.be/3oLXIEg6g30

5. Brightness/SSR/Glare/Sunglare

Brightness and glare was such a big issue to me while playing this game. I had many instances where it was impossible to see the environment because the sun reflections/effects, and area brightness was too much (leaving/entering buildings). Thinking the simple solution would be just to turn the brightness down on the game, but no matter what brightness setting, it didn't fix the issue, not once. There were many occurrences where running through certain ares of the game would just straight up blind me. What also didn't help was running near puddles on the ground because the sun would just reflect the everlasting light of God straight into my eyes, even with the SSR setting turned all the way to low to reduce sun reflection. DICE should really do some fine tuning with this feature, adjusting god rays, sun brightness, sun reflections, and SSR because if I keep playing, I might just go blind.

6. Reticle size and clarity

Is it just me or do close ranged reticles just seem too big? I'm joking, its true they definitely are. Many of the in game reticles look good, but not great . The okay ones are generally the magnified reticles. I really hate to say this, even though this game is in beta stages, but a lot of the reticles, mostly close ranged like the holo/reflex sights, look like pasted png/jpeg images. They move with the gun good, but they're too big, and don't look anything close to what a reticle should look like. Mainly just big. The biggest issue with this is trying to shoot at an enemy at a further range with a reflex/holo sight without it taking up their whole body. In my opinion the reticle should be smaller which would be more accurate to what a reticle should look like. It should look like a clear center dot with a gradually fading transparent gradient of the reticle color. It just doesn't look as good as it should by any means. I really hope that DICE adjusts this, even though it's not a big issue, but it's definitely annoying to look at. Other sights like the far ranged sights are fine, but could use some refining on the reticle appearance.

7. Weapon bugs

This one's really simple and I already expect DICE to fix this, but felt like it was worth mentioning. Me among other friends testing the beta ran into an issue where occasionally swapping to a weapon wouldn't get pulled out on screen, but was equipped meaning it was usable but not shown on screen. It's a simple bug, but happened on multiple occasions. It was easily fixed by swapping to another gun, and swapping back to the gun that bugged, but was annoying to deal with. The other issue was the imaging of the gun equipped in the bottom right corner, and in the after match preview, but this wasn't a big deal because it was just an image.

-----------------

Thanks if you read all this, and feel free to share your issues, and opinions on the game. I have really high hopes on the final product, and I'm really excited for release. I would like to say that my issues and opinions aren't to hate on the game, and just information on the problems I had. I had a really great time during the play test, and I have high hopes Battlefield will take the podium from COD as being the best current day fast paced FPS.
