When you play as journalist, each time you gather enough XP to level up (combat/survival separately), you get 8 skill points instead of 5. So yes being a female journalist allows you to gain skills the fastest.

If I don't use a female journalist with a journalist background, will I still be able to max out all my perks by the end of the game?

One thing I want to mention, my friend got two fruit cats. They got the strawberry and pineapple. Not sure if this is a common occurence or normal. But I only got one fruit cat.

I think the writing for the character text speech was on point. There was a real comic book feel which I really loved. The art design and scaling as I've mentioned before is cool as well. It was like Conan aesthetics in a post apocalyptic world. I really hope the vision for this project comes to full fruition.
