I don't think you read very well, OP said dumbest boss. A boss where it's you versus ♥♥♥♥♥♥ collision that can cause you to fall to your death is a very dumb boss. Conversely if you lose to Orphan of Kos and say it's dumb, that is a very dumb player.

I hope they remove all the access to mats from the PvE area of the DD again so me and boys can go back to murdering farmers for lulz soon, might make them all come back to the game.

The curve is holding a plateau for now. The lure of 1000 easy ore nodes for curiosity sake is a very short term bandaid solution that won't retain anyone's interest.
It's about to bleed out soon.

Two months from now, I'll predict around 10k will be playing at the peak of each week. So a bit more than Conan Exiles. That should sustain the game. Bleeding out implies it is going to die. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Where I'm playing (a private world), the number is slowly going up for the player count. From my little view of the game, the game is very healthy and gaining numbers. Maybe if you look beyond where you are playing, you might find some servers that have an active player base and not one that is declining? Not saying where I play is typical, but there are a few private servers like mine.

But you cannot see ingame for each villager how their mood is calculated.
