Hey OP, welcome to the one more route obsession that is TPF2.

First and foremost, play vanilla for a while don't touch modding immediately.

Play the campaign missions, they are designed specifically to teach you the games mechanics and some even give you abstract objectives where you need to use those mechanics to solve an irregular puzzle.

After the campaign go to freeplay. My tips for there are:

The money you start with is a loan you are paying interest on it form day 1
Dont beeline straight for trains.

Connect up sources and factories even if you arent using them immediately. as this provides income and gets them running and ready for any next steps.

Dont be afraid to delete your work and rebuild as you go. Things get bigger, tech changes, and especially for trains - they get longer

Dont be afraid to max out your loan, but also dont get careless with it early on, eventually you wont notice the interest payments but early? they can murder your bottom line.

Boats - cheap-ish, low infrastructure costs, SLOW AF, High capacity
Trains - Mid cost although some locos can be expensive, Infrastructure costs get spread out the more trains you have running on those tracks. Capacity? that depends on how many cars you put on the train and what cars they are. speed varies base don the purpose of the train, its cars and its loco.
Planes - Expensive, only later game ones have decent capacity , fast
Trucks/busses - Vary in their cost but are cheaper than trains. are slower than trains untill about the 1980s. and have low capacity until the 1950s but because they are much cheaper than trains you can spam a truck load ;) of them. With trucks, if you think you have enough on the line you either have too many or not enough.
Trams - More expensive than trucks and busses, but tend to have higher capacity at an average speed. infrastructure costs are higher than trucks and busses but lower than trains.

And lastly, my strongest piece of advice. When you've made a line, and set your vehicles, LET IT COOK. it needs time to balance out, unbunch and find its rhythm. after that, tweak your vehicle count if you see too many running empty, or the platform sitting full too often. then let it cook again. watch. dont enter the space of over eager min maxing your routes.

Then when youve got the hang of all of that. go ahead, bolt on some mods.

I agree. Been playing the franchise since 1942. And this time I'm gonna completely pass on it because it's just 'Battlefield' for COD kiddies and it has lost its identity chasing after the next cash-out. I guarantee you that everyone in that MP reveal had to sign a NDA that restricted them from saying anything bad about it. Because they knew if they didn't just shove the relentless hype-train down everyone's throats that it would ultimately fail.

Is there a way to play the game without it ?

Long story short... I''m not very tech savvy. Went through a lot of hurdles to have Edge 100% removed from my pc. Don't want to undo that :(

I couldn't find anything saying one way or the other, but they are partnered with EA and said unlocks will carry over, but i think they are mistaken
