BTW, here are some wishlist features that I hope will be added. Some I've mentioned before but just placing it here again for consolidation.
for the hired Analyst/Coach/Scout role:
1.Advice on the match-up(character wise) and position(top mid ,bot, etc.) win rate of each character. Similar to the one in the first game but instead of showing only the top 3, and only during patch notes(which makes the data not as useful since they'll be buffed/nerfed by the next game), make it be accessible anytime and make it update after every "day" or match.

2.DPS and effective HP rankings for the characters.

3.Scouting enemy play-styles. The first game only showed most played characters and what they picked per match, but now that we get to watch other games(like the teased Solo Queue watching feature), hopefully we also get to watch the opponents matches, and a "good/high paid" analyst may be able to tell what their play-style is.

4.Persistent characters. Players that were traded/kicked/dropped still exist in the game with the sames stats and may go to other teams until they retire. Retired players may go on to become an Analyst/Coach/Scout where some of their stats are based on how they were when they were still active players. That way if I have an old players who wants to retire, I can recruit them to be an Analyst/Coach/Scout instead of hiring from the outside.

It would be fun trying a play-through and be my own analyst, where I don't hire an analyst to save on money or spend it on trying to trade/recruit for an expensive player. Though I would understand if the the whole Analyst/Coach/Scout role was scrapped entirely if it gets too complicated. I'm perfectly fine with the first game's system of just upgrading your facility.

Hope the demo comes out before next fest(Oct 2025) and joins it to get a ton of visibility. Can't wait to play the game.

Future proof playerbase?

shadowsite původně napsal:
So just through sheer accident i stumbled over this game (YT recommended a JackFrags Video about it for me for sokme reason) and I checked it out.

Do you think the game will be playable a few months down the line?
Because I do am afraid that in 2-3 month you won't be able to quickly jump in and play afew matches, even with crossplay.
The game seems so.........niche.
A space exctration shooter with clear Jump ship (excuse me, I mean "jump space") and void crew elements while experience clearly beats skill.......I think in a few month, when only the hardcore fans remains, it won't be possible for newcomers to NOT get curbstomped by all the friend crews who know the ins and outs of the game :/

Just to make something clear: I DO want to play it, but I also don't want to spend 30 bucks for something that has the potential to be more less dead within the next few months (just like NMRIH 2, damn that was an dissapointment) when I could also, theoretical, play Void crew or wait for jump space for a similiar experience with the added bonus on not being influenced on a dwindling playerbase.

I'm really interested on the thoughts of a few long time players (or at least since release) on the possible future of the game.
Are the devs active?
Is there incentive to play for a long time?

I think the game will definitely be playable for the next few weeks, and if I were just discovering Wildgate now, I'd buy it for a solid 2 weeks of fun.

What happens after that? Nobody knows, and honestly, I think it's unrealistic to expect the community to provide precise future predictions. Yes, player numbers have dropped significantly since launch, but we have very active and communicative developers. I'm optimistic about their technical skills and commitment to the game. While Wildgate could theoretically continue running for years even with a small playerbase, we should be realistic - ongoing updates, bug fixes, and even server maintenance require sustainable revenue. Without sufficient commercial success, long-term support becomes challenging regardless of developer passion.

If I want innovative gameplay that I can't get anywhere else, and what Wildgate offers hits my taste perfectly, then it's unique. Then it's worth the price even if I could only play for 2 days. That's my subjective opinion. I have a strong passion for unique and innovative multiplayer gameplay, especially versus modes, and I love spaceships and sci-fi in general.

Asking whether the game will still exist in 2-3 months only makes sense if you're planning to buy it now because it's on sale, but then let it collect dust.

I'm also a game collector, but not with multiplayer games. I either play them immediately or usually don't buy them at all. Here's the key insight: it makes no sense to stockpile a multiplayer game like Wildgate with a small playerbase. Either buy it now and play it immediately (then it's great value and hopefully the fun of your life), or wait it out - because then the game concept obviously doesn't appeal to you enough to justify the price tag.

Look, I found so many great games in the past that were already dead when I heard about them. I bought an experience no other game could deliver - for me personally, it has more value than what I paid.

Wildgate is a game that connects people. It puts you with strangers on a boat in the universe, and you need to work together to defend yourself. This can create bonds and friendships - nothing money can buy. It's a great game in many ways.
