has the game performance improved or is it still bad ?

I have an RTX 3080 Ti and I'm mixed about the performance. These days, it runs fairly well during actual gameplay with just DLSS and no AI frames needed, but there are some performance hickups just after loading a file and starting the game or just after traveling to a different area.

Main problems are that everything takes longer to load in than before, there's a ton of pop in and many realtime cutscenes where characters are talking just look bad and the performance is trash in them as well. And especially how long it takes to load stuff in is really horrible, characters start out literally looking worse than PS1 graphics and even 5-10 seconds into the cutscenes the character models still look like trash and all the while in the cutscenes there's plenty of framerate problems.

Honestly it's just stupid that the game had so many technical problems at launch and that many of its technical problems are now far worse than they ever were and are the worst they've ever been in the franchise. Honestly there's no excuse for this game ever looking worse than the first PS2 Monster Hunter game at any point. Heck, even if they released Monster Hunter on PS1 its characters still wouldn't look as bad as this game's character models do at times, that's not even an exaggeration.

Jokes and ♥♥♥♥ flinging aside, mecha games are rare. High production ones (AA if you will) like this one are even more rare.
Last time we had high production mecha game was Armored Core 6, two years ago.
And before that the first DXM six (!) years ago.
This is a very specific game for a very specific target audience. It's not AAA-slop, it's not f2p and it's NOT waifu-driven tongue-in-cheek parody game.

So it's ok for this to cost $70. In fact it's ok for this to cost $100.
Because if you're not a mecha fan, you wouldn't buy this even for $50. And if you are, you would even for $100. I mean I bought mumbo jumbo deluxe whatever for $90.
It's either this or f2p garbo like Mecha Break or Mecharashi, and yes I admit playing terrible gacha game, because it's a mecha game, I'm very ashamed trust me.

So if Armored Core 7 or whatevs will be $70 or $80, I'll still gobble it up, no question.

Now you can bring up offline Gundam games, but between Gundam Breaker 4 and Battle Destiny Remaster, they aren't even nearing AA quality of DXM2, let's be real, especially a remaster of a vita game, come on. And they're still as rare.

While I don't necessarily agree with your view on game cost, I do agree with you that this game hits a VERY specific niche, so much so that I feel it will be one of a kind that is not going to be easily replicated. Its not really like a traditional mecha game like AC, and its combining very interesting genres like the mecha genre, looter shooter genre, aRPGs,..etc into a very compelling package.

I have followed this game for a minute and this game reeks of a passion project that actually may have gotten a decent budget without much interference from some greedy corporation.

The interesting thing is that in a landscape of overpriced AAA games that release unfinished, with terrible optimization, greedy live service/MTX elements,..etc this game not only looks polished, but a select few people have already gotten the full version of the game a month in advance (very good news concerning polish/optimization).

I personally hope this game does not get completely overshadowed by Borderlands 4 that is releasing a week after it, as it has very similar overlaps especially in the west when it comes to looter shooters.
