You repeated all the myths of the rightists, the decline in demographics is generally a natural process of development of urban civilization.

While urbanization naturally has an effect on birth rate, saying that demographic decline is purely the result of urbanization is plainly wrong.

As soon as you take a country that is not shackled by this kind of ideology, then you will have high birth rates regardless of the level of urbanisation.

E.g. the USSR, while respecting and in many cases pioneering the rights of women, at its peak had a high urbanization rate AND high population reproduction rate. Enough to basically repopulate the country after the horrible losses of WW2, and literally almost double its population in 45 years from 1945 to 1990. According to Wikipedia, in the 1980's the USSR had a reproduction (fertility) rate of 2,51 children per woman. By the end of 1980's, the urbanization level of USSR was 73%.

As soon as the Soviet regime fell, however, the reproduction rate in Russia plummeted, despite the level of urbanisation remaining the same. By 1999, it fell to a catastrophic 1,16.

But once the "liberal and democratic" regime of Boris Yetsin was replaced by Russia's long-standing ruler Vladimir Putin, the reproduction rate suddenly grew again. WTF, did Russia de-urbanise under Putin or something? Obviously not, on the contrary its urbanization level increased. As did its demographics. By 2015, it reached a replacement rate of 1,78 - still low, of course, but respectable given its struggling economy and sanctions pressure.

Interestingly, the USA's reproduction rate in the 1980's was also quite high, reaching 2,01 in 1989. While it was one of the most highly developed and urbanised countries of the world, with urbanisation level of 75%. (Note that USSR had almost the same level of urbanization, but a much higher reproduction rate of 2,51).

By 2000, USA reproduction rate actually rose to 2,06, and continued to rise, peaking at 2,07 in 2007. Its urbanisation level in 2007 was 81%.

And today, USA's reproduction rate has plummeted to 1,5 - far below the threshold for population replacement. What incredible "urbanization" has taken place in the USA since 1990 to tank the birth rate so much? Oh, let's see: the urbanization level in 2025 is... *drumroll* ...83%. A whopping 2% rise since 2007.

Are you telling me this 2% rise in urbanisation is responsible for the CATASTROPHIC decline in birth rates? Holy hell, shouldn't the US government adopt urgent de-urbanisation programs or something?

Anyway, it's pretty clear that saying "urbanisation is the cause of decreasing birth rates" is pure nonsense. While it may have an impact on birth rates, it's obviously not the only impact, nor even a primary one.
