My friend had this issue and it happened only on steam, when he downloaded the beta from EA app it worked normally, maybe try that for the beta 2 at 14th? Tho it's also possible that they will fix this issue with an update, so maybe keep the steam version just in case as well

It's implemented as a regular progression system, the goal is to balance it in a way so you don't specifically have to grind for it unnecessarily (which is currently what we're working on).
