Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Hacker Lobby

Me and my Friend played MW2 and the first three Lobbys we join were Hacker Lobbys, after that my Friend was VAC-Banned.
What the f*** was that? Nobody of us Cheat...

You can not be banned for joining a hacked lobby. You can be banned if you created the hacked lobby. Your friend is a cheater, simple as that.

If he has a VAC ban he is very likely a cheater or someone cheated on his account. Why are you here instead of him? Likely because he knows he cheated so there is nothing he can do.

One thing is certain, if he got banned for playing in modded servers you would both be banned. If he is telling you he did not cheat he is also a liar, like most cheaters.

VAC detects based on a database of known cheats, this means false positives are extremely low (one could argue non existent). What this means is that he was running cheats at some point, this is fact. Tell him to put a ticket into support but don't hold your breath.

i wasnt aware that vac policed MW2 i was under the impression that activision had its own anti cheat program in place

CoD is protected by both VAC and their own anti cheat. You can actually get 2 bans.

Most likely your friend hosted the hacked lobby with MW2 Liberation.

He was VAC banned for either cheating or hosting hacked lobbies. That is all. Not entering hacked lobbies.

No we don't, valve however does and they will not tell you, the only thing they tell you is if the ban was applied correctly or not.

Hello Jelle. You freind has been banned for either Cheating or Moding the game. Even hosting a moded lobby can cause this.
Valve stated for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 & 3

VAC is enabled on all multiplayer servers, public and private. Any modifications to the game other than editing config files can result in a VAC ban. Examples of such modifications include but are not limited to console enablers, VAC disablers, and server hosting mods.

Joining a hacked lobby will never get you banned. In other words probably he lied to you. Anyway your freind should take a look there:
