can you get banned for using mods

so alot off my friends say get this mod get that mod not like mods to a game but like base defence mod or the hidden mod can u get banned for those

I get your point, but your wording made it seem far more dangerous and scary than what it is.

yeah i dont mean mods like to a actual game to make u fly or something i mean a game that is built from another game a mod have a look on youtube the hidden see if i can get vac banned for them types off mods

Most games will not result in a ban. Keep the mods to things that are officially supported (L4D's vpk, source maps, etc) and you are defintely fine.

But mods make the game better. More maps, improved graphics, extra missions, new sound effects/music and other stuff.
