Cheat Engine
A friend of mine uses a cheat engine script in Borderlands 2 when he gets bored, If he forgets to close said engine and attempts to connect to a VAC secured server (in a different game) Will he be VAC banned?

Yes there's a very good chance of getting a VAC ban if he has the cheat engine open while connecting to a VAC secured game. I've heard of people getting VAC'd under these exact circumstances.

CE will only trigger a ban if you HOOK CE into the game exe. This cannto be done by accident. Just having CE running won't trigger a ban. Whatever you heard, you heard wrong.

Whether what I heard was wrong or the 3-4 people that have been banned for doing this lied doesn't change the fact that it's not worth the risk.

It is very common for cheaters to make up excuses. They are often liars also. Imagine that.

You may want to read my threads about using Cheat Engine safely.

Ppl got banned via VAC in the game dungeon defenders, not sure if it would be wise to continue to use it for VAC secure servers / games online

That's because people were using CheatEngine in Dungeon Defenders. Dungeon Defenders is ALWAYS VAC ENABLED. "Open" meant "use our tools to make cool stuff" NOT "cheat as much as you like". They cheated in a VAC enabled multiplayer game. They were then VAC banned.

CheatEngine WILL trigger a VAC ban if used in a VAC enabled game.

My previous post was to illustrate that 'leaving it running in the background' doesn't by itself trigger the VAC ban.

But as Archduke pointed out, cheating in any form is dangerous and has risks. Especially if the 'cheat' you download is actually a keylogger or other such thing. If you cheat, in any game, in any way, you always risk getting VAC banned, even if it's indirectly via an account hijack. Unless the game has built-in cheats, you are always cheating at your own risk.

Well i dont care what u wanna call it, a cheat is a cheat - simple.

regardless of being VAC enabled or what not, tuff luck they got what was coming, if ppl get banned and then say "i wasnt aware, or some other excuse" again tough luck.

My way of thinking is - if you cheat, you might aswell play chess against yourself, you know the outcome (you are going to win, regardless) so why bother..

And yeh i know what your previous point was about, i thought that point was moot though.

Cheat Engine will not trigger an VAC ban UNLESS you inject/hook it into the VAC PROTECTED GAME! You cannot inject/hook it by an mistake. So unless if your friend does hook/inject it into the protected process/module, he is fine.

well maybe...

oops I forgot to "unhook" it after I "switched" accounts, oops VACbanned on my "clean" accounts oops...

that kind of "mistake" lol
The use of any cheats poses a risk of being (VAC or ect.) banned.

Some of the thoughts given here are true and some are not fully explained, as to give you full details, in which is not recommended to do, because of helping others with the knowledge of how to bypass AC systems.

To anawer your question, the running of it will not automatically provote a ban, but the use of such can.

Again. use at your own risk.

Your freind's hack will be detected soon; Do not even attempt to use this. Any kind of hacks will get him banned.
