Banned Because of FOV Changer
Hi!
So i have been playing with a FOV-Changer (Field of View) for like over a year now. A field of view changer (FOV-Changer) are a innocent program that makes your screen be smaller, so you can like see the whole stock of your weapon etc. For you guys that doesnt know what a fov changer is:

In several games you can find FOV optin. (Mw2 PC, Minecraft, BF3, BFBC2, Far Cry 3).
Today, i got banned because of using a fov changer. Fov is not a hack at all.
I think it's ridicolus to ban me because of using a fov changer. Many people reported me because i was good at the game, beacuse i got used to the Field of View i was using.

I think i should be unbanned, first a year after i started using it, now i get banned.
500NOK out of the window for nothing wrong.

You have a lot of 'friends' that are VAC banned.....

one is judged by the company they keep.

I've Been Banned.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 & 3

VAC is enabled on all multiplayer servers, public and private. ANY modifications to the game other than editing config files can result in a VAC ban. Examples of such modifications include but are not limited to console enablers, VAC disablers, and server hosting mods.
You break the rules you get banned, simple as that. Whatever you think of it is irrelevant.
How do you know it is a FOV changer that caused the ban when Valve never tells people what triggered the ban? Sounds like another excuse. In any case Valve has any proof they need and making dumb claims does not erase digital evidence.

I wouldn't be changing the FOV in a VAC'd game - specially a semi-competitive one.

Modern Warfare 3:
Tested by EliteTemptation and no bans.
FOV Changer (http://www.benchmark3d.com/modern-wa...ew-fov-changer)only goes up to 85 or 90 FoV
FPS Unlocker https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10208269/MW...20Unlocker.exe (direct download link, only allows you to cap at lowest of 60 fps) mw3sa (proof)

Note that this "evidence" (if it can be called such) is purely empirical, but still. A MW3 developer also explicitly said FOV changers were allowed.

We do not mind if a PC user has the FOV changer mod.

We also do not ban anyone that is using the FOV mod.

I'm getting in touch with Valve to make sure they agree with us on this subject, but there you are

EDIT: Just had confirmation that Valve [VAC] also does not issue bans for FOV changer.

Unless you were using another FOV changer which does more than just change the FOV (these do exist, after all) it is exceedingly unlikely - nigh on impossible in fact - that this is what got you banned.

A game should have that setting, like many vac games.

You wouldnt have fun playing a game that plays as if you are looking through a package of matches.
As a person who gets dizzy playing games with a narrow FOV i agree with you that every game should have a FOV slider. I find it incredibly obnoxious when the feature is missing (or i have to go fiddling .ini files to tweak it)
iirc the FoV changer doesn't VAC ban you. Either that changed (unlikely) or you were VAC banned because of something else. If you believe you were unjustly banned, the only thing you can do is contact Steam Support. We users can't help you. If the ban was in error, it'll be reversed. If not, then that's that.
he probably used a shady FOV changer that triggered VAC and then VAC banned him

Well well well. Looks like it was much deserved.

FOV changer is an hack and give you advantage in a game that don't have FOV slider. Even if FOV is important, if the dev don't allow it, you aren't supposed to change it.

It can make your screen smaller but also WAY BIGGER so you can see way more than normal.

It's a legit ban for sure. Don't waste time with Steam support, they won't unban you.

As has been said, even by one of the devs (her post was quoted in this thread a few posts back), FOV Changer will NOT ban you. So either that has changed (in which case there'd be a truckload of posts on the matter) or something else trigger VAC on the OP's account.

It's still give an unfair advantage. It's not available on the game directly, alterating the game to get it is bannable.

And you shouldn't listed a devs saying that, specially a such old post.
There's probability you rebuy a copy hence they get more money, so don't trust everything they say.

Also VALVe can decide to add FOV changer at ALL the VAC games. Devs don't have direct control of what's getting added as hack in VAC.

Use your logic, if it's give an unfair advantage SPECIALLY if you can't do that normally with the game, it's SURELY prone to VAC ban.

OP took a pic from the internet and call himself "celine", so i hardly trust him when he say he only used a FOV changer anyway.

(Don't trust me? google.)
The only reason we have crappy FoV problem is because of Consoles and console ports.

I suspect this FoV thing is an excuse or something he hopes his friends will believe.
