MW2 modded lobby messed up my game.

I bought this game today and the second game i get into is a modded one. I left and restarted my game but now i have Multi coloured Ping bas and for some reason am the host of games and it seems like it makes them have it aswell? I have verified my cache but still have it am i at risk for a vac ban?

Try deleting and re-installing the game. As for the VAC aspect, you can't get a ban from going into a modded lobby. I once accidentally joined one that boosted me up to level 100, and I still don't have a ban. (I don't play it anymore, in case you're wondering)

Ok thank you. I knwo you cant get one for being in the game but for hosting it. It must of changed a config of added something as when i go into a playlist i am always the host and everyone in the game has modded ping mask.

Just delete the config and the game will build a new 1 when you launch it.

Changing the config file will not cause you to always be host. It takes a hack to be host every game. Joining a modded server can not cause what you are saying. Please come up with a new story that is actually possible and plausible.

Excuse me? In the two games i was in i was host sorry for asuming that the config file made this happen because normally i dont get host. Yes i was in a modded lobby and yes now my Ping bars a multi coloured and no i did not use any programs to modify the config file myself so yes the modded lobby did do something to my game.

You assumed that from 2 games??? Unless you are sure why would you spread misleading BS information? 2 games does not = always host.

The point he's trying to make is that the only thing he did different was join those modded games, which seems to indicate they DID screw up his game. I recently got this game because I loved it on the consoles, and I am disappointed to see that every other freaking lobby you join is modded. That never happened on the PS3 for me. The modding and hacking on the PC has ruined COD for me.

You're really not helping, facedown - trolling and accusng people who come to these forums for help and advice is not nice and possibly against the server rules. I'm no mod, and have no say in that regard, but it might be a little nicer if you actually read what people wrote and tried to help rather than start throwing accusations about.

The way I understand it is that there is no chance you will be banned unless you actually hosted a hacked lobby yourself.
I would certainly completely uninstall the game and any local cache/settings (i.e. under yourt userprofile for example) for this game before restarting and re-installing.

Sometimes if you join a lobby and someone is modding it and you exit it can corrupt your files. Had this happen alot in MW3 about 4-10 months ago. Lobbies that you could not exit out of it thru normal (esc) then game exit because the screen would just disappear.

If it happens spend the few minutes and have steam verify the intergrity of the game cache files. You be surprised how even a tiny file can affect your game. For me what happened is once going into a game that was being modded (thru normal game lookup) while playing upon exiting the game and going into next game my Predator Missle would travel the slowest speed possible (about 1/2 normal speed) no matter what I did.
