Custom wide screen resolutions, aspect ratios, CS:GO FoV & VAC. Is it legal?
Hello.
Recently I've played a bit with custom resolutions option in my nvidia panel and just wanted to ask about VAC and use of them in CS:GO.

2100:900, 3150:1350 (aspect ratio 21:9 or wider) scaled down on single fhd display using only the official nvidia drivers, no extra plugins, software, etc.
This results in large increase of horizontal FoV using just a single screen.

Standard CS:GO FoVs:
90 degrees for 4:3 aspect ratio
100 degrees for 16:10 aspect ratio
106 degrees for 16:9 aspect ratio

Custom resolution FoVs:
120 degrees for 21:9 aspect ratio
136 degrees for 10:3 aspect ratio (custom res 3000:900)

Also some info I just found on net regarding this matter:
http://www.wsgf.org/fovcalc.php - FoV Calculator

I'm pretty sure that custom 21:9 isn't bannable but what about wider custom aspect ratios.
Might be useless for MM but looks super fun for deathmatch.

So VAC bannable or not?

If it mods files,
or runs in the backround don't take the chance.

anything from nvidia control panel isnt triggering VAC ban

also, resolution only opens up the display (if the game allowed it to),
higher resolutions DO NOT give higher FOV. higher resolutions only display MORE things compared to smaller resolutions.

do note that: higher FOV gives user an advatange over others that uses lower FOV, due to the nature of degree angling (pan view)

Creating a custom resolution through the standard nvidia control panel, will not trigger a Vac ban. Same can be said for Eyefinity setups.

Most games, the vertical FOV remains fixed, based on the desired set fov settings in-game. The horizontal FOV will increase or decrease based on the aspect ratio of the given resolution.
So an ultra-wide resolution will give a very large horizontal FOV, with 180 being the upper limit.

I'm not sure about CS:GO, but TF2 had a server side command "sv_restrict_aspect_ratio_fov" that capped the horizontal FOV for resolutions with aspect ratios wider than 1.85:1
Most likely since ultra wide aspect ratios can cause the camera to clip through walls.

While having 136 FOV wouldnt directly give you a VAC ban, it could give you an overwatch ban, since they view the demo in 4:3 or 16:9

What about when you use custom resolution utility?
