VAC
I got VAC banned today but I don't even use cheats or anything. I do use overlay software to monitor my CPU and GPU as well as show FPS in game. Could that have done anything to upset VAC? The weird thing is I got VAC banned on both of my accounts... Please help

If the program hooks into the game's memory while you're in a VAC-secured server, VAC will detect it as a cheat. Contact the software's developer, s/he will be able to tell you if it can trigger VAC.

Hooking into a game is not grounds for a ban, as a hook itself is harmless. You are evidently confusing it with injecting, which is a different and way more dangerous matter.

If it only creates an overlay to show you those values, it was not the cause for the ban.

Eh, I'm not sure exactly what triggers VAC, but it's safer to assume that even a hook *could* set it off. Whatever the case, if it was the only thing OP was using - assuming s/he isn't lying - it has to be the cause for the ban, unless someone else has access to his/her account/PC.

it would be safe to assume any program that hooks into the game that is not part of the game will result in a ban. it is after all 1 of many things vac is looking for.

i agree a system monitor program is not likely to cause a ban. millions use them.

getting banned on both accounts means you have downloaded and ran something that vac detected, when you were logged onto either account in a game.

It's very unlikely that system monitor will trigger a VAC ban, if you know Xfire and have the in-game overlay enabled it will also hook into the game same as Steam in-game overlay and other softwares like this.

There must be another reason why you have been VAC banned either modifying the core files or the memory of the game which is against the [t]erm [o]f [s]ervice (depends on the game and it's TOS).

We can't help you much with this related problem and the Steam Support won't answer in a public forum so you have to contact Steam Support in order to get a answer, to do this, create a Steam Support Account if you don't have one and create a Ticket to contact Steam Support.

A answer may take a while (days, weeks) due to high ticket volume.

Does not matter, we dont know technically how vac works, the terms "injection" and "hook" is just logical terms, we dont know how it works for real (technically)
So, both of you can be right, but both can be wrong too and we never know..

The program op used dont necessary need to hook in the game, the game is already sending the data to a DirectX driver (or another opengl driver in linux case), the program probably hooks there, or it can hook directly in the VGA firmware (injectin info), just like nvidia or catalyst software do, so that dont caused OP vac ban,
Sorry my bad english.

Whatever the case, something triggered VAC, and if the program OP was using was the ONLY thing that was used alongside CSGO (no other programs or modified files), then either someone conviniently strolled along and cheated on OP's account after using the program/while using it, or the program triggered VAC.

Contact whoever developed the program to ask them if they're aware as to rather or not it will trigger VAC. If it does not trigger VAC, then something else decided to cheat on your account - or just modified something in the CSGO directory.

I use the overlay that comes along with EVGA Precision X, I have used that for a long time but I recently updated something in it. Could the update have had something to do with this?

I think you're giving the OP too much credit. The simplest answer is usually correct and in this case the simplest answer is the OP cheated and like every other cheater has come in here to lie about it because they don't realize people in these forums can't unban them.

Exactly. This system monitor nonsense is just an excuse. The OP cheated and is trying to talk his out of two VAC bans. We've seen it a thousand times before and we will see it a thousand times again.
