If one has a multi-hack installed somewhere on your computer, how does VAC detect it?
My friend owns a multi-hack, that gives x-ray, auto-shooting, aimbot and stuff like that and doesn't believe he won't get easily banned if he doesn't use aimbot but any other hack.

Is this true? Does VAC search your entire computer for any suspicious files or just the game files?

I got my answer. VAC automatically searches your memory for bits of code that seem suspicious.

But how does the cheat-detection work on CS: GO? My friend says it's very unlikely that you get banned while being on the Silver rank.

a hack is a hack if you(or your friend) want to take the risk consider that valve has zero tolerance against cheats and vac is permanent, but is not my acount the one in risk so i dont know if worth or no.

It doesn't matter if he is low or high rank, if he used a known Cheat or Hack while playing on a VAC secured Server, he risk a very high chance for getting VAC banned.

Report your friend via the button on their community profile, or if in CSGO then using the report feature.

No I'm against cheating. That's why I made this thread.

That's what I thought. He said noone in the Silver rank would care, but I disagree...

I'll give it a day or two for the system to automatically ban him and if it doesn't, I'll do it myself.

VAC bans are delayed.
Overwatch investigations rely on multiple reports.

There is no justification for waiting before reporting cheats.

Still, I just met a heavy cheater yesterday and the in-game report feature did not work on him, as he could use that hack for the whole match. I even got deranked from that, so the match in which we were facing a cheater counted. Up to this point I have no idea on how Valve's anti cheat and ranking system work on CS GO -.-

I'm not sure what you expect the in-game report feature to do.
If you do not wish to play with cheats throughout the match, then quit or if they are on your team, votekick them off.

One of many reasons why there is no justification for delaying in reporting cheats. The earlier that reports are made, the earlier the possibility of an Overwatch investigation leading to a ban.
Only the most recent winning games for that account will have skill group adjustments reverted and only once the ban is applied.

The information is provided on the SteamSupport website (VAC), the counter-strike.net website (CSGO).

Your rank has nothing to do with how likely you are to get vac banned for one, 2nd yes vac does scan your computer, but not dormant files, only something actually running in background or messing with the game. A smart coder would know how to block or bypass all of this though. Aimbot and you will get caught 100% guaranteed, if not by vac then by overwatch. Its not IF, but when... Thats not to say you can use everything but aimbot and not get caught, its just aimbot/triggerbot is the most VERY obvious cheat.

someone that is friends with a cheater is disgusting, someone that is friends with a cheater and delays to report them is worse than disgusting.

In which case, I still don't understand why you did not report these cheats as soon as you found out what they were up to, nor why you continue to play with them while they ruin the game for those who play honestly.

So I'm supposed to not be friends with a person who has just recently started cheating on a game that I infact do not like that much and who I've known for over 8 years, right?

I also said I'll let the automatic system report and ban him, but it didn't so I did it myself.

Mmhhh... Maybe because I cheat too, kappa. But if I am friends with them in real life and known them for over 8 years, I'm supposed to ignore them for a video game?

Also I didn't report them in the first place because the system will do it for me. But it didn't, so I reported them.

Can this thread be deleted? There's going to be a lot of misunderstanding coming if not...

As has been said, VAC bans when it detects external cheats running or modified core game files. Depending on how the cheat works, merely having it on your computer won't warrant a ban.

For example, there's some cheat program that's aptly named "Cheat Engine" (I think...) that's considered to be "clean", since all you have to do is turn it off and you can play in VAC servers just fine.
Yeah I already got my answer, but thanks for commenting anyways.
