Is It Safe to Play CS2 on a New Account After a VAC Ban?
Hey everyone,
About 4.5 years ago, I received a VAC ban on my old account (back in the CS:GO days). Now I want to play CS2, but obviously I can’t do it on that banned account. So I’m thinking about playing on a new Steam account instead.

My question is:
Is it safe to play CS2 on a new account using the same PC?
Will the new account get VAC banned too?

Based on what I’ve researched:

Technically, yes, you can play on a new account.

However, VAC may link the new account to the banned one if you’re not careful — especially if there are any leftover cheat files or if both accounts are used closely together.

It’s important to fully clean your PC and avoid using both accounts at the same time.

If anyone has experience with this or any advice to share, I’d really appreciate your input. Might help others in the same situation too. Thanks in advance!

Is there really no one here who has experience with this or can help?

If the cheat was on the PC, then you would have to reinstall the entire PC to be on the safe side, otherwise there is a risk that you will be banned again.
Cs2 don't have hardware ban, but u received vac in this game and u better to wipe ur ssd

Did you reformat? If so, yes.

....and you cannot use both accounts at the same time, anyway.

Reformatting is to remove the cheats.
And this don't affect on tf too, I have HVH trust factor on this acc, and perfect on another acc, they don't mixed up

I was VAC banned years ago on a different computer. Now I have a brand new PC. Since I’m a software engineering student, I have a lot of Java and other development-related files — could that be a problem?

It’s good to know that trust factors from different accounts don’t get mixed up. That actually gives me some peace of mind. Really appreciate your input!

You install cheats on the PC, not the accounts.

Not really, to do that you would have to access and modify CS2's internal files, which are probably not intended for that purpose, so nothing should happen.

Do you think Valve can't tell which accounts are created by the same user?
