Possible reasons for a ban?
Would an (offline) solo game cheat warrant a ban? For example, using Cheat Engine to edit Gold in Torchlight?

Online only, of course.

But Torchlight is not a good example, because it isn't VAC-enabled to begin with!
Thank you. It was an 'In General' question as for the first time Im considering using Cheat Engine to complete HC mode and wondered how the VAC system applied to offline / solo games.

Appreciated.

Torchlight and Torchlight II have mods, why bother using cheat programs on it, when you can just download one of the many gamebreaking mods, there are ones that increase the sell value of items and eliminate failure chances on enchanting, etc. You don't need to use a seperate program to cheat on Torchlight...

Beware, 'Offline' and 'Online' is not the right thing to look for... it's either 'Protected' or 'Not Protected'
Some games are VAC protected even in 'single-player/offline' modes (Dungeons Defenders, Dead Island)...
I'll keep an eye out for that, thanks for the info.

If you're game is VAC enabled it's best to leave it alone. You'll still be able to play single player if you have a VAC ban on record. Unless it runs on source the VAC ban will be limited to that game as well.

What about using a fast click macro? Is that considered cheating even though it is just a mouse setting, not a "cheat"
:o cant understand it

You will never be VAC banned due to using any features your hardware may have.
