A Question About Dark Souls II and KBAM Interface Icons Mod.

So I did read the stickied thread... Apparently I can be banned from playing online, don't have the option to appeal, or have the right to know why I was banned.

I just bought Dark Souls II, never played a Dark Souls II game, and I have problems with the controls... Well, not the controls exactly, it handles fine... but in game it assumes you are using an X-Box 360 controller and the tutorials give you X-Box 360 controls. If you look up the keyboard controls they are often wrong... like jumping. There are two different keyboard and mouse buttons or combinations that supposedly make you jump. None of them work. There is also nothing that tells you how to lock on targets, and of course in game it tells you to use a controller combination to lock on. So basically I am playing the game and can't jump or lock on targets.

However it says you may be banned for using it. I was wondering if a Steam representative or a community member who is experienced with the VAC system knows whether or not that mod could get me banned.

It is not cheating... but if the automated system flags me for having modified files I could be banned with no way to appeal. Thanks for your time.

Dark Souls 2 doesn't have Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC). You can't be banned.

That's weird... everyone on Google seems to think it is... But I did just open up Dark Souls 2 and it didn't give me that warning about VAC. Hmm.

All VAC Secured games have this[puu.sh] icon on Store Page. Also keep in mind that you can get VAC ban on VAC secured server only. You can't get it in singleplayer or while playing on unsecured server.

No official word yet. As FromSoftware starts to define more and more cheats, we have communicated and detailed the harmless mods that some users have been using. In the end we can't say for sure, since that is up to the Dark Souls II server team, but we'll let everyone know what we learn as these conversations progress.
