VAC doesn't really count as a 'system requirement' does it? It's an external anticheat system.

It is something like not telling about Game for windows LIVE I guess that everybody would be suprised if it were requirement for game and I would not be stated anywhere.

Nah, that's a DRM, different animal. :)

VAC is simply a system to catch cheaters. Like Punkbuster if you remember that.

VAC is based on detecting modifications and injections of exe files. So basicaly if you use modded exe you will be propably banned. So I consider fair to letting people know about it.

in a way, i feel sorry for vac banned guys. they have so many obstacles to hurdle after being vac banned. Then i think of the times i've come across them cheating with impunity, taunting others to report them, i don't feel sorry for them anymore.

what about cases where people were vac banned because their account was broken into and valve later vac banned them regardless or in my case I let one of my children play a game and suddenly vac banned regardless even though my son does not cheat (I frequently use the only computer as it is for my job but I have an alternate account setup with steam and whatnot to relax) either way I think it is pretty cruel to ban people for LIFE! (people change over time and people learn that what they did was wrong but the ban is NEVER lifted because the corporate ideal is that it follows STRICTLY by policies and any marginal reprieve is met with swift reprimanding!) and to stop the argument before it starts : YES, I do check the computer as it is my job to check files before and after making adjustments (I know he did not cheat because I already have a program that is meant to block ANY downloads without my business account which is locked with a very long password!)
