SKIN-Changer

Skin-changers are classified as cheats, as they should be..

they work exactly like a cheat and modify protected game files/memory. They can easily make your opponents skins neon. It is not necessary for VAC to tell the difference between them as modifying protected game files or memory is not allowed anyway.

all VAC bans come from the detection of a known cheat, whether it is used on the account itself or some sort of sharing has occurred (account, library or phone number).

Users are responsible for the security of the account and all that happens on it

a) you have to tamper with key core files and Valve isn't going to take time trying to determine if one is a gun texture or another is a interface-based cheat. Also b) Valve aren't exactly going to approve of something that would kill the market if people could get stuff for free to use in-game.
It’s known for years that skinchangers will trigger vac bans … instead of 5 minutes research you just took the plunge … well now you’ll know and it doesn’t matter what we think valve dictates the rules if they say it’s not permitted that’s the end

Did you know that the community made those skins?

Did you also know that Valve pays users to use their skins in the cases?

Did you also know that the only way to obtain certain skins is by purchasing case keys to open cases for those skins?

Did you think of any of this stuff?

Valve: *don't do X or we ban you*

You: *I'm gonna do X*

You: *gets banned*

You: *WHY WOULD VALVE DO THIS?!!*

Not sure why people always lean toward this? It's not the reason accounts are banned. It's completely secondary to the real reason and completely coincidental..

CHEATS. that's why accounts are banned. See my first post here in this thread.

It's both, yes. People don't think about both perspectives of the whole picture. They just think it is fine to both cheat and steal without second thought, until hindsight kicks in.

it plugs into and modifies game files. Ergo, its a cheat.

You should never try to use anything on a game with anti cheat.

From my perspective - none of the cheaters care about this, or their impact on other fair-playing users till they got VAC.

Coming to god and all that jazz, happens directly after that.
669 day old vacban. thank you for letting us know that you used a skin changer and the vac system worked correctly. like the ban states, bans cannot be appealed or removed

No. VAC DOES NOT ban because you can steal skins with a SkinChanger. VAC bans for it because you can CHEAT with it. That's the only reason.
Clearing up peoples misconceptions, and ultimately misinformation and false rumors isn't "splitting hairs". It's called "truth".

Why not tell people you'll get a VAC ban from using spacewars to pirate games? Because it doesn't.

It keeps being said that a skin is a mod...that is NOT true. I'm playing the Flatout racing games and a skin is only color...nothing else. A skin does not give you an advantage, a cheat does. You saying that it doesn't matter because the skin is seen as a cheat is not right. A car with a different color should never be seen as a cheat because it is NOT...it is merely the color that your eyes are seeing. Now, if you have an "invisibility color" your argument would be true. If the methods they use to decide if something is a cheat or not is not smart enough to differentiate between a cheat and a skin then it's pretty obvious that they need to fix their method. And STOP banning people for wanting a different paint job on their cars. If not...well there are many different racing games we can play that don't ban you for frivolous reasons.

Don't bother responding to me because I don't plan on checking back just to see how you prove to everyone that you are smarter than me. What I say is common sense. Something that's been in short supply for the last 4 years.

Yeah, if you totally ignore the facts of what we are talking about. In that game, that's all it would be.

In Flatout color doesn't matter, in any MP FPS game, ability to give your opponents neon, glowy colors is viewed as using cheats.

Even in irl games (airsoft, paintball), people tend to wear cammo instead of neon pink.
