Vac bans are issued for known cheats being detected on the computer while the account was connected to a vac server. VAC bans are delayed, what the account was doing at the time the ban was activated is unlikely to have anything to do with the ban.
Anything that tampers with protected game files is treated as a cheat regardless of it giving an advantage or not (skin changers, etc). Steam/Valve will not release any information about what was detected, that information will only help those that cheat and make cheats.
You are responsible for the security of the account and what is on the computer(s) the account uses. It does not matter who was using the account to cheat.
No one on the forums can remove nor investigate a ban. Only falsely applied VAC bans are removed automatically by the system at a later time.
This is not a ban appeal forum. You cannot appeal a VAC ban. Nothing you post is going to get the ban removed. There is an INFO link on your profile, click it and read what it tells you.
If the ban was incorrect it would have been removed long ago.
You should've searched before making thus thread.
"It's been a year since this happened, and I still don't know exactly what went wrong."
1 VAC ban on record | Info
260 day(s) since last ban
260 days is not a year.
Can you tell me what program or software caused my VAC ban?
No. We do not disclose the cheats that were detected while connected to a VAC-secured server that resulted in a VAC ban. We have detailed records for each VAC ban, however, releasing this information would only benefit cheat developers. The VAC team regularly investigates claims of false VAC bans to increase the effectiveness of Valve Anti-Cheat.

Cheats cause VAC bans.........

these links was in my history browser i think some websites got deleted ... you know why :)
The cause for your ban is done by a person sending malware that's classified as cheating into your PC -- look up RCE. I'm not wondering because Activision is too lazy at fixing serious issues.
You are responsible for your account and all actions on it. That means you haven't search for other related threads before yours.
"I used free cheats on MW2 servers and got a VAC ban about a half year ago, now I want to have the vac ban removed."
Yeah yeah we hear cheaters ask all the time, your ban is for life with no appeals just like all the rest of the cheaters.
It doesn't matter what you think, we know you're lying. Antivirus programs don't cause VAC bans, cheats do.
"well yes yes but the terabytes overturned the clock cycles and that's why the LAN conflicted with the Wifi and that's how the horrible vac-ban.exe virus entered my computer! because at the time of the clock cycles being out of sync the firewall was turned off due to the app store not syncing with the user folder and henceforth the malicious hacker injected the virus into my HDD ram."
This post should be showed to every cheater who uses the ops excuse.

Viruses DO NOT cause VAC bans.
You can keep saying otherwise, but it will never make it true.

That ban is correct or it would've been automatically removed a LONG time ago, it will never be removed.
Create a new account.
The only thing strange about this is why you are trying to convince fellow users in a forum full of banned accounts that VAC is a failure?
