"Skin Changers" represent a modification of content. Therefore, it would not be unreasonable to elivcit a ban as a result of such.
If you are not sure, it's recommended to not use such 3rd party tools as ultimately you must accept responsibility, and if a ban were to arise, it's somewhat "too late."
You can play the game fine without skins, don't let CS:GO players' influence judge you, "eww you got no skins, you must be poor"
Don't listen to them, never. Don't risk your money, they are just virtual items.
As others said:
You can use the skin modification program to get banned, you can waste money on pixels that is worth a high-end computer, or you can enjoy playing the game without skins or with skins from the rank up drops without buying anything. It's your call.
Because "SLAM (Source Live Audio Mixer?)" doesn't alter the Memory of the Game which some Skin Changers does.
That's not correct. You can get banned for altering game files in a VAC secured game. That said, there are sometimes *some* files that you can alter, usually cosmetically and then there are files that if altered can trigger a ban. If you don't know which is which, then you shouldn't be tinkering with them in the first place.
Right here:
"The VAC system reliably detects cheats using their cheat signatures. Any third-party modifications to a game designed to give one player an advantage over another is classified as a cheat or hack and will trigger a VAC ban. This includes modifications to a game's core executable files and dynamic link libraries."
Anyway, this program messes with the game memory. VAC doesn't like that. According to VAC, the game memory belongs to the game (and to VAC). Don't upset VAC.
