Discussion regarding the use of automated community voice/text bans in Source 2 games (CS2/Dota 2)?
I wondered if the current automated systems would carry over to Source 2 games (CS2 and Dota 2). A system like Vacnet, but for online content said or written in-game, should be able to determine based on chat logs and player behavior to ensure users who gain enough infractions by being toxic (discussions of rape, harassment, threatening others with violence, receiving too many reports across multiple game sessions) get community-banned (voice/text) or temporary matchmaking ban. Thoughts?

Nothing to do with VAC.
VAC only bans for cheating.

and turn this into a EA hugbox? Naw. VAC is there to prevent people from cheating, not to protect your feelings when someone says a bad words. Take the advice of tyler and close your eyes when someone is cyberbullying you.

Game bans are for bad behaviour

Not sure if you're aware, but in-game Community text/voice bans are already a thing in CSGO. What I'm asking isn't for people who say vulgar words or trash talk. That's par for the course on the internet.

These are for people who undoubtedly aren't the type of people who should be allowed to use text/voice comms, the type of 2ch/4ch level humor or using screech soundboards, typing the hard R or using racist, derogatory, or bigoted hate speech for the lulz.

You tell me if that's cyber-bullying or if that's straight up messed up you're going to say yeah it's aight, give the chud a pass.

And this wouldn't be a game ban. Game bans are reserved for cheating. You'd still be able to play the game, they just can't use text or voice comms to get attention.

still nothing to do with vac. vac bans are for one reason only, detection of known cheat programs while the account is connected to a vac server.

if you have questions about the rules of a game and what actions may earn a game ban, it is best to post in that games forum. unless the communication software tampers with protected game files, it is not a vac issue

game bans are not just for cheating. cheating, griefing, account boosting, win trading, smurfing, making alt accounts to bypass a ban, etc, are bannable offenses that can earn a GAME BAN depending on the games rules.

You're missing the point entirely. I'm not referring to game bans. I'm aware what VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) and VACnet is and how it serves its purpose.

I'm referring to community bans. I re-wrote the discussion topic to make a better indication that this isn't meant to outright ban you to play the game, you just can't use voice / text comms. (still waiting for it to pass review)

There are already automated systems in place today, that isn't called vacnet perse, but instead using turnkey report -> infraction systems.

Toxic behavior fall under Game bans, which do exactly the same as a VAC ban except it is not exclusive to cheating.

All Valve multiplayer titles have this in place already. Other games like Dead by Daylight, Rust, Lost Ark, MWII/WZ2 and many more already issue Game bans for toxic behavior.

Actually game bans are not just for cheating they are for boosting and toxic behavior as well but that’s beside the point that this has nothing to do with VAC in this forum.

no, they are not.

the place you've posted is 'VAC discussion' forum, the thing you're talking about is a punitive action / suggestion for a specific game for player behavior. They're telling you that you're posting it in the wrong forum.

you want a more automatic situation for game bans to be applied, and that's fully understood, even if your original post was not indicating this quite clearly. i see it's been edited now, but they gathered this understanding from the previous unclear post.

it just doesn't belong in the VAC discussion forum. its about anti cheat procedure and refinement.

if player spoken microphone caused a new method for cheating, that would be added to VAC but, it would be more to prevent game advantage rather than punish bad player behavior.

VAC's focus is for cheating alone, despite the fact that cheaters try to say its the boogey man lol.

Usually cheaters are offended by the other fair players whose patience is over so far.....

You are the one missing the point here, this is a forum about VAC, and VAC only. Community Bans have nothing to do with it.

The classic "we are cheating, why are you upset? Go play another game then. Or accept we will cheat and get over it.". Pretty much trolling at that point, and since they already cheat: doubt they care about trolling either.

Yes, dealt with that numerous times. People being proud they are openly and blatantly cheating and telling others to play other games if they want that problem less.

Doesn't help that there is a culture of VAC ban collecting by people on as many accounts as possible, since for a player, they could cheat in a free to play game without spending money, get banned, and then rinse and repeat endlessly.

i'm a fair player and you know the rules. Cheaters must be banned from online gaming, with csgo2 the music will change,

Fair enough, posting this in the wrong forums leads to the wrong kind of discussion. It's better suited for Steam Discussion. Ill close the thread.

Edit: Welp, I can't - it's gone over the 7th post minimum to allow me to delete the thread.

Show me anywhere, in that help article, where VAC is mentioned. Anywhere.

Is abusive chat against the rules? Yep. Is it bannable? Yep. Can repeated offenses lead to a permanent communication ban? Yep. Is it related to VAC or this forum? Nope.
