i got this once i logged back on today and i restarted the game and now it told me i had an overwatch ban. I have never hacked the game or anything, but when i activated the steam mobile authenticator from the mobile app, i got the vac and overwatch ban. Im just wondering if this happened to someone else??

your account is GAME BANNED, not vac banned. the ban is for phone or library sharing. the message should have told you which one it was.

when an account cheats, all other accounts with the same phone number will be banned at the same time. your phone number should only be on YOUR account, no one else's. and no one else's phone should be on your account

all Overwatch issued GAME BANS are PERMANENT and cannot be appealed

make a new account, start over in the game, and make sure only your phone number is on the account and not on anyone else's account

GAME BANS for CSGO are permanent and cannot be appealed. Bans are issued for either blatant cheating, the 2nd griefing offense, or being involved in account boosting.

It does not matter who was in control of the account when the cheating infraction occured. Overwatch issued GAME BANS have nothing to do with VAC nor this forum.

It does not matter what the story or reason is, no one on the forums can assist you and nothing you post will get the ban removed.

Should your GAME BAN turn into a VAC BAN, that would mean 2 completely independent anti cheat systems that use completely different methods of detection caught the account cheating and the ban will be permanent

Thanks man. Hate to see that I am permanently banned without even doing anything :/ I just started to enjoy the game and even bought the prime upgrade so i could enjoy it even more. But that was a waste :(

Your account was not banned for "not doing anything"......



Why are game bans issued?
Game bans in CS:GO are issued when a player attempts to circumvent or interfere with game systems to the detriment of others.

Examples include:
Cheating.
Manipulation of matchmaking rank by deranking or falsely increasing your Skill Group.
Botting and/or automation.
Intentionally interfering with the normal operation of game servers or other players.
Game Bans for all of the above are not removed by Steam Support.

Keep this in mind that when your account is linked to another account:

You are warned when linking accounts by a phone number as to what would happen to all accounts linked to that number, if cheating or other infractions occur. You are warned of these consequences EVERY time a phone number is linked to ANY account. Your fault for not reading those warnings.


Be aware that if the game ban is superseded by a VAC ban later, this means that both anti-cheat systems (Overwatch and VAC) determined that the account was cheating. The VAC ban takes precedence on the profile.

The ban will still be permanent and it still cannot be appealed.
