- Should a programmer get worried about being VAC banned by mistake?

I am a programmer and I always code on a virtual machine, and I keep there all crazy tools I might need for these taks, because I am afraid of being banned by mistake.
Is it recommended? Are there any cases of programmers getting VAC banned because of coding related stuff?

- Could mods get me VAC banned?

Mods, sometimes I am afraid of adding mods to my games in general, but, for example, like... dark souls. It has its online features and all, and if I add a mod that changes the map or the items, could it give me a VAC ban?

- When someone gets a VAC ban is there a support that they can get in touch and really analyze what happened or nothing can be done about it?

Dark Souls does not use VAC.

VAC bans are permanent.

Only stuff that modifies the game itself while playing on vac protected servers can get you banned.

Mods could indeed get you banned if the mods used modify the game itself while playing on Vac protected servers.

All Vac bans are permanent, there is no appeal or anything so be careful.

as a programmer you should already be intimately aware of how vac and other anti cheats work. but i will humor you regardless.

-any modification internal or external of protected files in an anti-cheat enabled game will result in a ban without question.

-mods on an anti cheat enabled game will get you banned. any tampering or reverse engineering is included in this. trying to unpack a file will cause a problem.

-there is no appeal for a vac ban, it is for life.

i would suggest playing protected games on your non development machines.

Actually I have an idea how it might work, it should monitor or the game files and the process of the game in the ram memory, and check if there were any unexpected changes there, I imagine, but who knows?

I just learned that there are some games with the VAC tag enabled, I thought all games could give a VAC ban. so I am free to apply mods in games without that tag.

this is a false news, fake rumors started by cheaters who would lie with their dying breath to sell their own mother to claim they did not cheat. all of them make a fake story.

simply ensure all developer tools are disabled before playing a vac-protected game, and you should be fine.

you should be aware there are a number of games that have no 'vac' tag. but still adopted vac as an anti cheat solution.

yes, i suspected you were aware of such methods, its not a new type to you.

you can get unbanned many times if the case is DS3, at bandai namco they dont really care
