Cheating in single Player games?
A quick question: Will you get a vac ban for using hacks on a single player game?
I never did but im curious about what will happen if you do.

Depends on the Game.

Some Games are "online only" and still requires an Internet Connection to be played even in Singleplayer Mode.

Baiscally if the Game does not use VAC then you are safe.

Single player games that do not connect to the internet, or have it blocked, and or don't use vac or another anti cheat, feel free to do what you want. But counter strike source for example, you can play offline botmatch and do whatever the heck you want. But then csgo for example, Botmatch by default still has vac enabled!!! So careful what you are doing. (also don't use the achievement unlocker, #1 everyone will know you cheated, #2 some achievements are impossible to obtain currently, and responsible for a lot of bans.

But yeah on those single player games, you can edit your money, stats, gold, items, turn on the speedhack, whatever. Its your game. Honestly I prefer to play all my single player games on absolute hardest skill (without cheating, exception of maybe in game money) Regardless if I have to die and retry 1000x, rather than steamroll it on easy.

if the game is single player only it doesn't even need VAC. VAC only secures some multiplayer games servers. So I think you're safe

If it is VAC protected, try to launch it with "-insecure" instead. That should disable it.

Well I don't use so not sure. I would imagine like said, if offline should be fine. A good way is to put steam in offline mode.

Also as said be warned. If you use a cheat, and have that running (regardless if using) and play online, can trigger a ban as well.

Most games have console commands you can use that are only available if not playing online. So downloading a cheat I would say is safer to just stick to what is allowed via console.

you know counter strike source is still VAC enabled right?

either way if you wanna cheat in valve games enable console and use sv_cheats 1 but other thrid party programs will most likely result in a ban

a NON-VAC singleplayer or a total non-server connected singleplayer wont ban you for anything,

however, not understanding how the "cheat" works while on the other side it messes with your multiplayer game core files and later on banned you for that.
that is another matter

MW2 does not allow ANY mods, or cheats either offline or online. The console is locked, and if you unlock it you will be banned.

not sure were i stated anything on mw2. but if you can access the console while offline then you can use the commands. i have nto played mw2 in a long time. some games allow the console to open and some things can be used if offline or in single player mode, but not if you are online.

if a game does not allow the console to get open then to do it you would have to get a cheat.

it's a moot point anyway since IW removed the ban enforcement for mw2 a couple of months ago. If you use cheats, you'll still get that pretty red "vac banned" tag on your profile though.

like I said moot point.
