It was banned 2 years ago, it's banned now.
you referenced CSGO and nothing else until this post.
Any overlay of the same nature will likely get the account banned in Rust as well.
EDIT: Seems like you are misunderstanding me, i never got banned in CS:GO.
But that was exactly my question. Is this bannable or not?
I just find it a little bit odd that Valve doesn't have a post about what counts as a cheat and what not, this is just inexcusable...
That's enough for you to know, if they started listing every cheat they ban then there would be no point in VAC, would there? Simply don't use it if you are not sure.
Finally a answer that actually helped, thank you gwait!
Thanks Fox :)
Step 1: get a ruler, and a dry erase marker, preferably orange or red, something highly visible.
Step 2: Measure your monitor and determine the exact center point.
Step 3: Mark a dot, or whatever kind of "crosshair" you prefer at that point.
Step 4: Congratulate yourself on your ingenuity.
Here you go. Look, it's the exact same post about crosshair bans...but for Rust. Oh dat google.

The forum moderators here aren't also Rust developers. They're not going to give you a helpful list of files to not "modify" so you don't get banned in a specific game.
If It's VAC protected...then it's generally a good idea, not to attempt to alter the game files while playing in VAC protected servers. (also EAC protected servers)
And you can also ask yourself a simple question. Is what I'm doing giving me an advantage? If so, then it's probably a cheat.
Whatever tinkering you do, is at your own risk.
