Which programs has VAC-features
Hello there!

I just wanna know which programs has VAC-features. I bought some skins and I don't wanna lose that items, so I asked to myself: 'from what can I get VAC ban?'
So how can I see a program has that feature.
Like, can you get VAC from anti-virus.
From what applications can you get it?

Thanks,
Gilles

Sorry for my broken English

Just don't mess with the games .EXEs or .DLLs. And of course, don't cheat. From what I know, VAC detects cheating signatures that are already in its database and also checks if the executables and libraries of the game you're playing are modified in some way. If you get a false positive (very rare ocurrence by the way) from some new software that has nothing to do with cheating, the ban will be lifted when the software it's confirmed as legit.

edit: Please note that I said "From what I know" I don't work for Valve, I'm just a Steam user like you

You can get a VAC ban from cheats, from stuff that messes with your game files and from programs that hook your game. Basically, it boils down to not being a fool. If a "texture pack" contains DLL files, you'll get a ban. If you download and run a piece of malware, the malware author will play on your account, cheat and get it banned. Both cases count as being a fool.

How Can I see it is malware and not legit? Can I get VAC from anti-virus programs?
Well, download as nothing as possible. The less software you use, the leas trouble you're gonna get. Always be suspicious, if a program claims to do wonders (improve your download speeds, make more RAM available) its snakeoil at best and scam at worst.
AV don't cause bans, but they may prevent VAC from working hence you from playing.
Finally, use your brain. If someone on the internet tells you to download a chat program you never hears of, its likely a scam. If someone gives you a download link that's not the official web site of the said program, its definitely a scam.
You won't get a VAC ban from anti-virus / anti-malware softwares, that's quite obvious (as long you have got them from the official websites). As few folks cited, just don't mess the game core files, do not cheat and you'll be fine. There're very rare cases when you might get a VAC ban enforced onto your profile when memory electrical surges / leaks happen which could trigger VAC attention especially if such stuff happens for multiple times.

Usually this case occurs from faulty RAM chips and also from various of reasons but again those scenarios happen very rarely.

VAC doesn't ban for faulty RAM. That indeed happened in the past, but Valve changed that

Read this : Valve Anti-Cheat System (VAC)

Already read that. But I just want to know more: This thread
Valve will only ban you for confirmed cheats

you will only be banned if valve has detected cheat signatures or bits of code which are associated with cheats

don't cheat and you won't get banned
and don't modify any exe or dll files in the game

If a program modifies the memory of the VAC secured game or core .dll or .exe files a VAC will usually result.
Yeah, but why some guys get VAC from cheat-engine? If you just use it for a website or something... then it doesn't modifie anything from your .exe or .dll files?

really?

why does 'Valve Anti-Cheat' ban people who run a self-proclaimed 'Cheat-Engine'

really?!

Its an old excuse cheaters use. Do you really want to trust cheaters not to lie?
Oh, so it's just an excuse... oh oke :D Thankyou guys
