Valve isn't going to tell you that. I suspect it is true though. Who knows how long they retain possible cheat data, until it is found to actually be a cheat which then a whole bunch of accounts get banned. This is only my opinion on how it works but I've been here a while...

But in the privacity policy agreement i did not Accept that. They can scan but not save files. I guess.
VAC does not upload files from your device.

Valve collect certain data that is required for detection, investigation and prevention of fraud, cheating and other violations of the SSA and applicable laws ("Violations"). This data is used only for the purposes of detection, investigation, prevention and, where applicable, acting on of such Violations and stored only for the minimum amount of time needed for this purpose..... Please note that the specific data stored for this purpose may not be disclosed to you if the disclosure will compromise the mechanism through which we[Valve] detect, investigate and prevent such Violations.
-
The key here is "minimum amount of time needed for this purpose", there is potentially an argument that elements of a suspicious processes hooking into the VAC-secured process/VAC/Steam could be retained and analysed until such time that multiple such occurrences are identified unambiguously with a specific cheat and therefore this justifies the retention.

Yea I suspect they have not only looked at those things by a technical team, but also by a legal team.

Its really interesting, how much could be that time? Hours? Weeks? Years?

I think that's also a matter of interpretation and Valve won't commit itself here.

OT
Greeting silicone vampire, nice that you're still here.

If your not cheating, why worry?
Only those with something to hide would be worried.
Also this only looks at the game files.

But in the privacity policy agreement i did not Accept that. They can scan but not save files. I guess.

They can definitely save and archive the files detected as cheats.

Yes, they rescan the files that were saved in case it was falsely detected. How else are they supposed to undo false bans?

This is how all anti-cheats go back and undo false bans.

Let's make this clear... They are not saving all your files they scanned. Only the ones that triggered the anti-cheat.

And how many time they save that files? Do they delete that files if you are clear?

my opinion is that if you're worried about your privacy, you should stop using an application with a kernel level anti cheat, despite which one it can be.

valve cannot release details about vac in any circumstance, because the cheat maker will learn how to make a better cheat.

you can read such details of this in the end user agreement for the anti cheat, it does detail user privacy. i am not going to read it for you! lol.

i think its ok to trade some privacy to have a fair game online, because of how many idiots select to cheat, because they are terrible at the game.
