Will a VAC ban ever end?
Hi, my friend got VAC banned a year ago for not even cheating, it was a program for his pc, anyways, I know VAC bans are permanent, but is there any chance, any! that a VAC ban will expire? Cuz i think that everyone should get a second chance, just to proof that they learned something with that ban

A) No, it will never end
B) You don't know what your friend did, you aren't glued to him 24/7
C) Second chances were tried, people didn't learn a thing

NO. there is no 'not even cheating' - your friend was caught cheating. vac does not activate for 'not even cheating' =p

VAC ban readme

a vac ban will never end.

i believe after ~7 years, the hat of shame will be off his account, but he will still be banned from any vac-secure server.

I believe when steam was just starting, they (valve) shared your thoughts 'perhaps they will be reformed' but data quickly showed that they would always reoffend. so, to keep the system simple, the bans are forever.

I personally believe no cheater should ever participate again. This is something that should have entered their critical thinking steps before activating cheats online, imo.

Yes. It will end the day you will create a new account to play on. There is no end to VAC.

The thing is, i lived with him, in the same house, we played the same time all day, then he got banned, i checked his pc, i know what got him banned, but it was not cheats, and the thing with second chances, if u ever get VAC banned, i think it should end after maybe a year, but the acc may have a little lower trust, people can change

They already tried temporary VAC bans. Most people started cheating again as soon as their ban ended.

It's not your account, so it's also not your problem. Tell him to make a new one.

And yet, cheating is a constant problem, in every multi-player game in existence.

Until you eradicate the human predilection to gain any advantage at any cost, there will always be cheaters, liars and thieves.

Cheating and catching cheaters in any online game is always a game of cat and mouse that never ends.

So you don't know what permanent means, then. That seems to be the issue.

Well, ofc i know what it means, but I think that it should expire after a few years

Not it should not. Bans don't appear by accident. Someone cheated, ruining the fun for other players.

Also, again: NOT your account, NOT your problem. Unless you are your "friend" on another account. In that case: Ban is permanent, stop asking.

How do you know what got him banned? VAC doesn't tell you. What was the "something for his PC" you think got him banned?

Then it wouldn't be permanent. That's what the frigging word means. JFC.
