Hacker got a VAC ban on my account
My account was hacked but I didnt realise until almost a year later (I did not use the account). I got it back after prooving my ownership but the account has a VAC ban registered around 326 days ago. Can it be reverted or is the account no good now?

Hijacked not hacked. Hacking requires exploiting weakness in code. That doesn't happen on Steam. Hijacking is the issue and that's when users try logging on using a phishing website that steals their credentials.

Hijacker, friend, family member or anyone else accessing your account and got you banned is not a valid excuse.
Account security is the owners responsibility. Hijacked account, friend, family member or someone other than you is no excuse and a flawed argument for defence.

If all we'd need to do is
1. Mask IP
2. Cheat
3. Unmask IP
4. Claim account was hijacked (not hacked.)
5. Then claim Cheating occurred while account was compromised using IP as proof
6. Get unbanned

Any cheater could repeat steps 1 - 6 every time they want to cheat without any consequences.

Banning would be a waste of time and Support staff would be flooded with unban me cases increasing wait time for genuine cases.

Bans are permanent. If you want to play on secured servers you need to create a new account. There is no way to remove your ban.

Your account wasn't hacked, it was hijacked.

Who used the account to cheat is irrelevant. You failed to secure your account properly, now deal with the consequences.
The ban is permanent.

You are told all of this in the info link that is right on your profile, right beside the ban notice that you have had 328 days to read, yet you have failed to do so.

The account was used to cheat so the account is appropriately banned.

One thing I have never understood in all my nearly 19 years on Steam. The notice that is on VAC banned profiles and accounts is IMPOSSIBLE to miss. Yet, they NEVER seem to read it. Not to mention the damn account alert.

EDIT

I was not using my account when it was VAC banned. Can the ban be removed?
No. Any bans added to an account will remain regardless of who was using the account at the time the infraction occurred. Ultimately, the use and security of your Steam account are your responsibility.

While we understand this can be frustrating, we must maintain a zero tolerance policy for cheating to foster a fair game that all players will enjoy.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I believe they hope to be lucky and magically get unbanned. Hope dies last after all.

For me it screams "Bought account", when they post a year or more after getting banned.

Another javkass making assumptions. It was made by me but it was just an alt account and it was region locked and that's why I never looked back. My main account is 13 years old and over 2000 hrs of csgo.

Most poeple have their main accounts on their friends list. You only have 1 and it has less than 1500 hours in CSGO. What account are you referring to?

You are very rude.

VAC bans cannot be appealed as it is CLEARLY stated, so you are apparently also blind. You either cheated, or someone used your account to cheat.

So please stop insulting real hackers because of your incompetence.
