My account was hacked and has ruined all my achievements

I came back today to see my steam password was changed, I quickly changed it (no thanks to steam guard) and came back to see I have gotten every single achievement on games I have literally never played and at the same time I have unlocked no achievements? what can I do? am I going to get banned? also thanks steam for the literal 0 ways to contact actual support

VAC bans are delayed, if your account was used to cheat on a VAC secured game you might get banned.

Also Steam accounts don't get hacked, they get fished. There's not much Steam Guard can do if you give away your login details.

Unlocked achievements will not get you VAC banned but there are Game Developers that ban for cheated achievements especially if the achievements are used to unlock ingame items (Payday 2 or Dead by Daylight for example)

I see, alright well, ALL my games, which include payday 2 and dead by daylight have had all achievements unlocked and then all of them relocked, so most of the games I have put time into are completely reset.

You are not going to get a VAC Ban for someone using SAM on your account, but if they used other Cheats on your account in VAC Secured games then Yes, you will get banned eventually.

Consider yourself lucky, if all you've lost so far are achievements.

Your top priority right now should be to secure your account, i suggest to do following steps

Copy/Paste:

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

And please be more careful in the future, as i already mentioned Steam account's don't get hacked, they get phished, Steam Guard can't protect you against that.

I have already done all of that, as soon as I got my account back I ran everything I had and jumped through every hop to make sure my account is safe, at least for now

my friend had used SAM in the past and got his account vac banned so if this is something similar the same can happen

That sounds like your friend lied to you, or mistook a Game Ban for a VAC Ban. There is no record of VAC banning someone for SAM.

SAM will not get you VAC banned, some Game Dev's might Game Ban you (i mentioned the reason in my previous post).

His account could be compromised, or he used cheats at some point and didn't clean his PC properly, which would lead to VAC Banning him. There's multiple possibilities.

Ingame performance has NOTHING to do with anything ban related.
Everyone is capable of using cheats, there is more then just Aimbots, Wallhacks for example will not make you amazing at the game but gives you an unfair advantage against other players.
You still can end up losing or with a terrible K/D
