HWID bans [pros and cons]
What is preventing VAC from implementing a hardware ID blacklist feature to VAC?

I definitely know the pros of implementing this system, IE preventing cheaters from hopping from 1 account to another with no repercussion besides a lowered trust factor.

But what are the cons?

publicly accessible PC's. wouldnt take long to ban an entire cybercafe.

the account is what matters, not the hardware. some people have multiple computers, and they may have their friends over and let them use one of those computers to game on with them.
Whilst yes, that would definitely be a huge issue, I'm certain people could register as a cyber Cafe, perhaps a new initiative where companies can be placed on a whitelist perhaps.
no one uses HWID bans, just like IP bans they dont work. the only thing they do is provide a temporary block, and after that they do nothing except block innocent players. both can be spoofed

Someone buying used parts because they can’t afford new, thinking they are getting a deal and that hardware is ban.

That's pretty much exactly the same as any other game. If they just make the steps to let people know to NOT buy used hardware, then it shouldn't be an issue, I'd much rather risk that than having to deal with the same cheaters.

it'll more than likely prevent the majority of cheaters that search `free hacks`. But yeah I see your point.
