Cheating with -insecure option

I was curious about hvh servers and I had heard that you can disable VAC by using the -insecure option. I joined the game on my account with free cheats I downloaded with this option enabled (and verified it was enabled because the message showed up) and someone told me I could still be banned, even when using this option.

Is this true? It says for the description of this option that it "disables Valve Anti Cheat", and so my thinking is that it shouldn't ban me for having this option as well as joining an insecure server.

I looked it up in multiple places, but couldn't get a straight answer.

Secondly, you replied to the comment I made saying to stay on topic with something that wasn't on topic to the thread. I'm asking about the -insecure option used by CS:GO for for disabling VAC. This has legitimate uses by mappers who need to do things that VAC would otherwise disagree with. I can even say that I wasn't cheating, that I was doing something like that, and just triggered something that VAC would disagree with. The actual action that happened is irrelevant.

This is a forum for VAC discussion, I felt as though there should have been some answers to something dealing with the VAC system.

Regardless of stance on cheating: I am asking about -insecure. You may hold whatever beliefs you want, it is moot to this entire thread. The thread should be strictly technical and based around the option Valve built into the game.

The safest thing is TO NOT CHEAT, IN ANY SERVER.

It'll take less than a second for the cheats to be detected and the account is done. You're asking if cheating in this manner is 100% safe....it never is. All you have to do is enter a secured server once...and the account will be flagged for a ban.

Okay, you say secured server. If the server is insecure and I use the launch option -insecure, is there a chance of a ban?

Regardless of your beliefs on "the safest thing", there is a system that works a specific way. This is a forum on discussing this system. It seems everything is hearsay or beliefs, but I felt as if this should be documented and asking for answers is met with technical answers.

That command is built into the game, but you're using it to cheat....cheating is not built into the game....and I wouldn't get to attached to this thread. It'll be locked.

The Steam User Agreement does not disallow discussing options built into the game. "Cheat" is defined on gaining a competitive edge over others. I am not gaining an edge by not having VAC enabled, and not being on an official server. This is speculation, but I believe Valve would claim the same; VAC-enabled servers are servers that enforce the competitive environment and one that has integrity. A server not protected by VAC does not have that same guarantee. Therefore, even if someone gets that information from this thread, it does not affect the competitive environment.

Yes, -insecure prevent you from join vac-secured server.
and VAC known for detect known cheats running while connected vac-secured server.
So theoretically you are perfectly safe.
And don't expect straight answer from Dev, no Dev here.

We don't help cheaters here. Valve doesn't care about beliefs....cheating isn't allowed and they make the rules.
