Can you get banned if you use built in crosshair?
I have a Asus monitor who has built in Game-Plus. There i can set crosshair on all the time i every game. Is it legal to use in competetive cs go?

Anything that isn't built into the game itself, carries a risk.

If the crosshair is in the monitor itself and not a software overlay then it probably wouldn't be detected.

Would you risk your account on "probably" ?...I certainly wouldn't.

How would it know what your monitor is overlaying something unless the monitor reports back over the DDC line?

More likely, if it could cause a ban, I'd think the monitor itself would be blacklisted, though even that could be circumvented by connecting it over a VGA cable and cutting pin 12 to disable the DDC data.

It's no different than putting a red Edding dot at the center of the display. VAC technically cannot detect such optical hardware alterations.

no u cant i have a built in crosshair on my acer predator its perfectly fine..i used it on many fairfight enabled games no bans no problems.the crosshair does not inject into anythimg its merely a placeholder has no effect for heavily built anti cheats

Fairfight isn't VAC.

Either way, if it had an issue wouldn't the monitor's hardware ID be blacklisted?

Valve doesn't use hardware ID bans, because they can be bypassed...and as far as I know, no anticheat uses them.

That would be a potential concern if it was something that even remotely interacted with games. It doesn't, they're just monitor built in image overlays.

I meant blacklisting the IDs given by specific models of monitor, specifically the DDC/EDID data. A monitor manufacturer wouldn't likely spoof that data because doing so would get in the way of operating systems finding OEM drivers for the display.

Do the three of you have any idea how many topics get posted here where someone says they had no idea that such and such program was bannable by VAC? It happens ALL the time. Valve even tells you to use caution when using any third-party tools AND even if it doesn't trigger VAC...if his gameplay looks suspect, Overwatch will ban the account, which in CS:GO, the game he's referring to - is permanent - just like a VAC ban.

II) Overwatch bans:
1.Minorly disruptive (griefing): Around 30 days/1 month.
Second griefing ban: Permanent.
2. Majorly disruptive (cheating -aim/wall/other external hacks): Permanent.

Major Convictions are also issued to accounts that receive a second conviction for griefing. (info)

That crosshair is external.

You're failing to understand what monitor crosshairs even are. Its literally an image overlay. You could literally just force a paint image to be overlaid ontop of CSGO and accomplish the exact same thing as far as Valve would be able to tell.
