It doesn't do anything at all that gives an advantage. If anything it's a handicap creating tunnel vision with 0 upside.
Various other options would be better to see a bigger crosshair and heads.
1. Position an actual magnifying glass in front of you're screen. Least that way you'd still see everything.
2. Lowerthe resolution for bigger and bulkier objects....will look uglier too.
3. Sit closer to the display. Monitor that extends monitor right infront of your face.
4. Buy a bigger monitor
5. Glasses
