and lastly theres surgeries ,if someone undergoes facial feminisation surgery or something similar , the program wouldnt recognize their face anymore
and like others said , theres identical twins , should one get punished because of the other ? getting banned for something you didnt do would be the worst thing ever , and besides , what if the program also detects photos as the person then it would be completely pointless
I am awfully sure that having a paid version as well as a free one (so that cheaters would tend to the free version and the concept of trust started in these forums, if not where?
I also liked the idea of paying even more to reduce the number of cheats. Simply by being able to choose to play with only those that paid that same or more than you for the privilege.
Believe me there are people that would pay a lot to play cheat free.
There is no such thing as cheat free. As long as there are humans, there will be cheaters.
Theres also people who pay a lot to have cheats .
The idea is currently unworkable and the idea of giving steam a photo of me ? Nope !
There are many people who whatever reason like to not leave much of a digital footprint .
So, by your logic you would have to leave this on all the time. Which means that Steam would just be another program that spies on you.
Instead of forcing everyone to play like an idiot in front of a camera. Or even live broadcasting their image in game.......
This was probably the worst suggestion of anti cheat i have ever seen.......
Which is it needs a huge storage database and update everyday. 365 days, 7 days weeks and 24 hours.
If you want to pay so much, hire someone to make your own Gaming platform where you can implement this, in order to see how bad it is. This will not happen, and it's a good thing. Reasons have been listed more than enough already.

So forcing user to have face recognition for be able to ban then is more delicate then what you think mostly about privacy concern and law
and also like other said , just put a fake cam and showing a video of someone play or a picture can put a false positif , and like we see with in video , this process will not work at all it easy to change few element in our face and the facial reconition didn't reconize you
Already the phone number protection with steam is a double fail , it easy to change our number or simply using a cheap prepaid phone with a different number to cheat online and also about legality for banning every account on the same number is know to be abused by some law and can be go in an appael in most country , like having 4 account and you have two kid and everyone play and one kid choice to cheat and everyone got banned , in many country this is recognized to be an abuse position and just contacting the local consumer protection will finish by an unban and all vac cleared
So it's sure steam will not do that due to many law and if you think to go on your side and trying that , I will recommend to read humm what , something around 150 governement website for read all law about privacy , data storage and many other subject
so you know now why is impossible for a company to do that , this system can be used only in company which work on secret stuff and need high level of security and can only apply to physical visitor and physical worker
Doesn't matter if the data is encrypted or not once it gets compromised and at some point it will. What will you do? Who will pay for the surgery to change how a person looks? Would you really want to change the way you look each time that data is compromised?
We have been told year after year to use different passwords for different devices and accounts. Yet we are now at a time were we are being told Biometrics is the safer, easier and faster alternative to a strong password. Least if 1 password is compromised we can change it and until it's change the data can only be used to access a single account/device (assuming you haven't used it for everything.)
Just as the tech and algorithms gets more advanced so do the ways to fool and bypass them. The first fingerprint detection scanners were bypassed using nothing more than a black and white printout of the persons finger print using standard black ink and standard paper.
Sure there are some better including those with heat sensors and electrical current sensors. Both can be fooled by using saliva for temporary heat and a battery for the current.
You can buy 3D printers for less than £200 and using the right images print out the majority of stuff that can be used to fool these security measures. There is even a newer type that uses a gel and nothing more than a standard projector that can solidify the gel to replicate the image being projected.
As the tech improves so will the ways to bypass it. While I'm not the best looking guy on the planet I'm not prepared to risk surgery to change what makes me me. Afterall once biometric data whether that be my fingerprints, face, iris, ears voice or brainwaves are compromised there is no way to undo that breach. Meaning anyone with a little research and practices can not only use it to break your security but also to impersonate you in ever more convincing methods.
