1) reading the notice
2) reading the stickies
3) reading when people post articles about their ban
what makes you think they're gonna read a notice
A lot of ppl are genuinely confused, this can help out some people.
"Welcome to the VAC Discussion Forum! Please note that this forum is not a place to appeal your VAC bans.
- VAC bans are permanent and not negotiable. False VAC bans will be automatically removed.
To learn more about VAC, visit https://support.steampowered.com/kb/7849-RADZ-6869/valve-anti-cheat-system-vac
- Steam will not reverse VAC bans due to account hijacking. Account security is the user's responsibility.
A VAC ban will always show up on your profile. If you don't have a ban listed on your profile, it may be a ban made by the game developer. In this case, contact the game developer for more information. Steam cannot help out with Game Developer issusd bans.
- VAC errors are not VAC bans.
- If you got banned in a game you didn't play, or find suspicious activity on your account, your account may have been compromised."
Vac errors are not VAC bans....how many times have we had to argue with someone that cant accept they have a vac error? far too many.....
better to just let the forum regulars and moderators respond without a generalize auto reply, at least the response will be more focused on their problem.
Again why?
Valve already provides links to this information to those that have been VAC banned, both in the info button next to the ban and in the ban notice itself.
They choose not to read it and/or ignore it.
A lot of them just freak out when they get an error or a ban. People don't really calm down and read when they think that they can't access their account with hundreds of hours and items
"I've been banned"
AUTO REPLY
Why was I banned?
Forum Regulars : Your not banned, post the exact message or take your time and re read it. You have an error.
wow, we can just cut 2 posts from every thread that has a vac error.
To echo what wold Knight has said the responses from the forum regulars are far better than any automated response.
I’m not sure what you think an automated response would gain over a human response from a knowledgeable user.
Automated messages can cover most of the stuff forum regulars are saying. A lot of replies on "I've been VAC banned" threads are the same as the above automated reply, no?
And users will still be able to respond and add comments.
My idea is to have a bot that acts like the AutoModerator function in Reddit. Lots of subs have reply bots saying stuff, why not on Steam forums?
How is barraging the user with all the information on VAC bans, Game bans, VAC errors and VAC ban scam from a compromised account going to make them less confused?
Better for a forum user to give them the correct information.
An automated message/bot adds nothing to the board.
This forum and community is almost solely based on text..... What is more simple and reading the pinned threads?
People don't read the threads - probably because one's covered in chinese
How is posting a message saying that if VAC bans don't show up on your profile then it's not a ban "confusing"?
